Shifting Perspectives: Tanks, bribes, and player behavior {WoW}

Apr 12th 2011 5:05PM Agreed. Heroics are not hard. I actually do enjoy them when I run with people I know and like. And I don't mind spending an extra minute on an explanation if someone doesn't know a fight. But what absolutely keeps me from pugging is the bad behavior of other people. The virtual goodies in the CTA bag are not enough to make up for the very real rudeness.

Agree completely with the point about server rep, something I have missed since x-realm dungeons went live. I also still have people on my friends list from BC pugs, and conversely word spread quickly on my realm when a player ninja'd, rage quit or just was no fun to be around.

Breakfast Topic: Do you actually enjoy PUGs? {WoW}

Jan 30th 2011 8:23PM I used to pug somewhat carefully in BC (remember, we were limited to our server, so I tended to be choosy using my friends list, or asking the rest of the group before I added someone I didn't know, and keeping a personal blacklist of people and guilds). In wrath I pugged with wild abandon, and mostly had a good time, but I did miss the social interaction with people from my own server. I had bad experiences, sure, but at least they were over quickly!

Now it seems like I've got the worst of every version of pugs over the years:

-incredibly long
-people never see eachother again, so no consequences for asshattery
-no social interaction, communication at the bare minimum or not even meeting the minimum necessary: "sheep the moon and don't touch it afterwards"!
-the worst thing is, when greater patience, tolerance and communication seemed called for, the rudeness has in fact gotten worse. Incredible.

I love this game and I have loved healing for a long time but several times in the last month I have come close to canceling my account. The point of this game is to have some fun right? Including accomplishing something challenging with other people. But when that experience becomes so grueling, so unpleasant, I have to ask myself what IS the point? I could be doing a lot of other things that actually make me happy.

And this does not.
