Nov 28th 2011 6:01AM for me it was when Blizzard allowed realm transfers.
I had a mage on a carebear server and the lock on a pvp server and I hated all the ganking as I just enjoyed doing all the quests.
I rolled on a pvp just to see something different but realized that questing was difficult. I asked Blizz for a transfer because I knew they sometimes granted one under some circumstances but the answer was no and I got a lecture about life's decisions blah blah.
So at 60 I mothballed the lock and rolled another one on a carebear server and then Blizz allowed server transfers and my old lock was transferred that day to the same server as the mage and in the same guild.
Nov 20th 2011 6:44PM Where will my mage teleport to?
A scorched pile of rubble?
Nov 6th 2011 10:15PM Maybe the players who join a raid pay 100g which is refunded when the 3rd boss is down. Maybe the 100g is then re-paid then to finish the run and is refunded when the last boss is down.
Nov 6th 2011 10:02PM maybe have a partial system, you can only start raid finder if you already have a small raid, say eleven.
That way you already have some structure and a RL.
Some successful raids I've been on were guild runs where I was one of say five who were pugged. So mainly tacked onto a guild run.
Oct 23rd 2011 12:33AM I like the resurrection of old content, as long as they don't 'modernize' them too much.
Only thing was I regret what Blizz did to Sunken Temple. I enjoyed the long instance when doing my level 50 quest. Many quests ended in a Sunken Temple quest.
I have fond memories of the long crawl through the instance, done on most characters that I have levelled up.
Now you zap to the bottom level where you fight the dragons. Modernize it if you will, but have an option to complete the whole instance for some quest.
I started wow in 2005 and it was relatively hard then with elite mobs outside instances and fairly difficult quests to get the next level of conjured water or some uber mount.
Now it's made easier to suit casual raiders. I felt the old level 60 vanilla wow had an "inconvenience factor" which has been watered down somewhat.
However wow is more polished now and when I played Aion a few months ago (not any more) I realized it had the unpolished quality like 2005 vanilla wow.
Sep 20th 2011 9:02AM I recall that Felguard had it's damage reduced by 35% and Felhunter used to detect stealth.
Why was the stealth detect taken away? Probably due to pvp balance. I was told that the rogue was able to spec into something which made the stealth detect less useful. I don't know enough about rogues to recall what it was.
I'd like to see succy's Seduction increased to something like a minute for easier CC, 15 seconds was far too short. It should be as good as polymorph. I suppose the 15 seconds is enhanced by it being applied automatically unlike other forms of CC.
I'd like to see the Voidwalker's Torment or Suffering be more threat generating so the mob didn't pull away and hit the warlock. I know there's skill involved but I felt that it was too easy to out-threat the voidy, especially at low levels when it was used a lot.
Be nice if Enslave Demon can be used until the demon dies and has more of it's innate abilities. At the moment, I think it's next to useless. Was only used on the way to Gruul in enslaving those giant felhunters.
Sep 20th 2011 8:07AM Does Blizzard employ an economist?
A game this big with so many people would need an economist to micromanage the details.
Sep 4th 2011 5:22AM What if each character starts off the same but gains DPS/heals/melee abilities depending on what gear they put on? So every character can wear any gear but that changes the gameplay?
So there's no such thing as a mage or warrior just someone who puts on different gear. The game is carefully balanced so mages are always clothy and you can't have an invincible mage or a tank who can throw fireballs.
Might be complicated for newbies and boring and we wouldn't be locked into any one gameplay.
slightly changing the topic...
I used to wonder what would happen is a ret pally only wore cloth with damage stats? Yes, we'd have a clothy pally but it might be able to burst a mob down before the cloths take much damage so that armour is not the main spec.
Sep 4th 2011 4:40AM Yeah, I remember the Prince Melchezzar fight was a long fight and I would graduly gain threat on my mage and I would become invisible to dump agro and start again. I also tried the threat reducing enchant on the cloak.
I also have a (gasp) warlock, in his levelling days I would deploy the voidwalker onto a mob and wonder why the mob would attack me when at half HP. I wonder if the voidwalkers taunts will have threat increased?
I also used to wonder about healer threat, why have it?
In BC I was a 70 mage running through normal Blood Furnace with some level 63 toons and I kept pulling the mob off the level 63 tank.
