Breakfast Topic: What's your favorite pet? {WoW}

Apr 4th 2012 9:14AM I was farming Noxious Whelps purely for Green Whelp Scale (it seemed like a good idea at the time!) and had no idea they dropped a pet. When the Emerald Whelpling showed up in my bag, I dithered over whether to sell/keep him for a whole week; he was the first really rare thing I'd ever gotten.

Now he goes with me everywhere - he's my good luck charm!

Breakfast Topic: I don't like the word 'toon' {WoW}

Mar 30th 2012 10:00AM Am I the only one who thinks of the word 'platoon,' not the word 'cartoon?' I always imagine my small army of alts as being an interdependent military unit, anyway, so for me 'toon' has more of a martial feel.

Breakfast Topic: Been waiting an excrutiatingly long time for this {WoW}

Mar 8th 2012 1:02PM Sadly, in Cata they nerfed the drop rate drastically. We've run it often, pulled off 0 Lights a handful of times, and seen exactly no Mimiron's Heads. I hear the drop rate is about 1% now.

Breakfast Topic: Been waiting an excrutiatingly long time for this {WoW}

Mar 8th 2012 9:15AM After faithfully farming for the White Hawkstrider, Raven Lord, and Rivendare's Deathcharger for MONTHS, the Raven Lord finally dropped. I declared myself satisfied - or at least exhausted - and quit the farming game. Last week I returned to MGT for a transmog piece and found myself staring in shock at the Hawkstrider. A day later the Fox Kit dropped in Baradin off a mob I'd aggroed on accident. On a whim I flew to Strathholme - Deathcharger's Reins, first run through.

Anyone want to run through Ulduar with me? Maybe Mimiron's Head will drop before the Mount RNG gods turn their faces from me once more!

Breakfast Topic: How do you feel after spending time with archaeology? {WoW}

Nov 16th 2011 9:15AM Surprised no one else mentioned leveling Arch as filler while DPS queuing (especially as filler more rewarding than watching people spam Thunderfury and question each others' fraternal anger levels) . I just got my Professor title last week this way.

Yes, it's a bit trickier for non-mages to get around sensibly, but with creativity it's doable. I spent a lot of time popping through the Cata portals in Stormwind and hitching rides on the top of zeppelins going between Stranglethorn and Tirisfal.

WoW subscriber numbers down to 10.3 million players {WoW}

Nov 8th 2011 8:36PM I started playing in Cata, after years of hearing about the game from RL friends, and am still playing actively because all the 'old' content is new to me (I had my first Lich King kill last week, and I'm looking forward to taking him on in heroic now that my lock has reset). That said, 3 of those RL friends have unsubscribed, not because 'WoW is dead!' or 'OMG insert-rival-MMO is so much better!' but because they don't have any reason to keep playing right now. Their mains and alts are maxed, they've explored every corner of the revamped old world, and they've run troll dungeons till the merest hint of a Jamaican accent fills them with irritation.

I'm confident that they--and a good chunk of their 1.1 million fellow unsubscribers--will be back when the new patch, and later the new expansion, hits.

GuildOx shares the most popular WoW character names by class {WoW}

Nov 2nd 2011 9:12PM I named my jewelcrafter warlock Peridot. My brother named his lock Ellipsis (dotdotdot, only classier). My hunter main has a made up name, but I get good reactions when she summons her tank pet, the crocolisk Instigator.

Forcing puns through misspelling is for amateurs :)

Shifting Perspectives: Avoid these common balance druid mistakes {WoW}

Sep 10th 2011 12:14AM I've gotten a bit more utility out of Solar Beam by combining it with Root. By itself, the utility of Root is limited to CCing melee mobs; by Rooting, then dropping a Solar Beam too, it turns into a handy caster trap.

Breakfast Topic: What spell, skill, or talent do you miss? {WoW}

Aug 17th 2011 8:16AM I miss my hunter's Volley. I understand why it got sacrificed on the great altar of AOE nerfing, and arrows raining down from my gun was admittedly lame, but being able to gauge the area of damage pre-cast gave me a lot more precision than Multi-Shot's 'aim for the guy in the middle and pray that the mobs on either side are close enough' function.
