Oct 12th 2011 4:01AM I disapprove with the general tone of the article. Spec only truly matters for the very top % of players at high levels of gear. Just looking at top parses produces a skewed image as it is, after all, the top results. Unholy isn't far behind when played well, but it's more to manage than as frost. I beat plenty of frost DKs who also have better gear. Frost is a simpler rotation and thus it's easier to put out bigger numbers, but that doesn't equal that the spec is actually "better." Also don't forget Ebon plague which is ace for casters.
I went UH after playing so much frost and didn't like frost as much post 4.0 and yet worse with the swap to UH prescence. I like the more control you have as UH and the AoE is just ace - Occul'thar for example, on eyes just hug, put DnD down so it hits eyes as well as boss, spread diseases from boss to eyes and blood boil. Only highly geared arcane mages and demo locks will keep up.
Oct 11th 2011 4:44AM Well to be fair, Forsaken pallys makes more sense than Tauren. Some Forsaken were paladins in life (Sir Zeliek for example) and find redemption in undeath (Bartholomew? at Light's chapel).
They can already be priests for that matter, just like trolls. Lore-wise however I think both forsaken and troll priests lean towards the shadowy part of priesthood which could explain the absence of palas for those two races. But again, neither are unfamiliar with the Light.
Sep 13th 2011 3:46AM I'm all for normal mode nerfs, but they should happen when content isn't current - T11 recieved it when T12 was released, that's just fine IMO even though some fights became quite laughable (halfus, atramedes, maloriak where you need to stop dpsing boss or push p2 with all adds).
But people, why on earth do you defend a decision to nerf HEROIC content? It was put into place just because raiders looking for truly challenging content would be satisfied, while allowing the more casual player to still see the end bosses and experience all content. I don't understand why the ICC buff was given to HC content either, as time went on H-ICC felt like N-ICC at very start of 3.3 with 0% buff.
Who is the target for the H-FL nerf? If you say people want to see H-Raggy well he already got a HP nerf. No, nerf norm content when new content arrives - let heroics be HEROIC. Even if you don't down it, there's satisfaction to work on the same boss as top guilds have, be it that you are behind time wise.
Sep 1st 2011 2:56AM Cata brought changes that led to issues that have gotten band-aid fixes ever since. First the fail of Vengeance, counter-inituative to stacking mitigation. More mitigation = less vengeance = less threat. Hotfix 2 weeks ago shows the devs gave up. Concerning mitigation in general, it was made to matter a lot more in cata, and DK have been in a pretty bad place anytime RNG is involved. Intentions were good, but the reality is bosses still feel like they hit in the same way (said that would change too) and you react a lot faster to damage intakes rather than to the ones that didnt happen.
Why do tanks need to put out so much dps anyway?
Jun 21st 2011 5:16AM Regarding languages; the original concept of all races being able to understand each others is quite a bit off. Titans are not creators of ALL races, Trolls and Tauren for example. The WoW language mechanic makes more sense, races should not be able to understand each other without prior contact, especially as we're dealing with races from different planets. Aren't there examples of Draenei learning orcish for trading in the past?
Jun 17th 2011 7:37AM It's nice of GC to make a post about the reasoning behind the changes, but I disagree towards PvE nerfs being necessary for warr and DK. They are PvP nerfs, affecting PvE game again. Content so far have been far more ranged friendly and stateofdps shows it. Experiences from 4.2 Beta indicates this has not changed much. Also seems devs can 't ever balance warriors, they always seem to scale "too well" with gear and quite ridiculous to have to mandate a nerf this short into the expansion.
May 26th 2011 4:02AM Grats to all that are overjoyed that they can clear current normal content if you just couldn't before.
However some bosses will definitely become easier than 5-man stuff for different roles - Twin dragons in BoT was already a joke to tank, compared to snake boss (#1) in H-ZG.
It's a bit interesting to see that so many are happy about raid nerfs when so many were glad that 5-man heroics got harder. Should entry raids be more accessible than the Dungeon finder runs? Because that is in effect what is happening - when forming a raid you have a lot of communication advantages in addition to know who you're raiding with and what people can do. I think the nerfs, if they are implemented as it now seems, are a bit too much. Why nerf both boss HP and their abilities? I'd go with an ability nerf, as that will still encourage people more to up DPS and survive as the boss won't kill them as easy, but still needs to be downed within reasonable time.
Appropriate-level raid content should still have Some challenge even if outdated, no?
May 16th 2011 8:30AM With totem, idol, libram and sigil now merged into a single itemtype, there could be an implementation of such a legendary as well. Think of something along the War of the ancients-type of ancient wisdom/strength-giving relic. Can't see that the wielder has it equipped? Add an aura to it... for the sake of visuals you can't see that someone has Thori'dal equpped either if it isn't unsheathed. Shamans in particular haven't got much on the flip side of legendaries and this would bve an item for them and three other classes, with quite the different potentials.
May 11th 2011 7:12AM If the 2-p set bonus will take shape of a separate buff from HoW, you could very well use it pre-pull and not worry about it getting overwritten by shammy/warr buff. Then just use HoW again before those 2 mins are up, and we have 100% uptime.
May 6th 2011 10:40AM With BM spec, the Orc racial Command will overtake troll racials due to scaling pet damage.
On the other hand, I believe that Frostheim missed Beast slaying for Trolls - on a beast mob (and we have a few - Magmaw, Chimaeron) - a troll with bow should be the best potential hunter, hands down.
