Jan 11th 2012 3:48PM I don't play DKs so I was not sure. The tooltip Mr. Rossi has linked describes the shield only as absorbing damage. I was unsure if it applied to magic damage or only to physical.
Also, keep in mind that DKs have been able to trigger their mastery shield by healing. This gives them some modicum of control over when and how they use the shield. Such an ability was only recently granted to druids by virtue of our 2pc set bonus for tier 13 in patch 4.3. We spent the majority of this expansion seeing our shield as a proc left entirely up to RNG. Also, it requires a minimum of 3 GCDs for a druid to "manually" trigger, still leaving us with a ramp up time to use.
Jan 11th 2012 2:14PM I would like to point out that the druid mastery ability shield from savage defense only mitigates PHYSICAL damage. This puts us at a significant disadvantage to every tank, including DKs. We can only mitigate magic damage through cooldown use.
Nov 18th 2011 11:06PM Hold on a minute. If I recall correctly, you neede to have a certain amount of a now extinct stat called defense to be uncrushable. Many bear tanks were using pvp gear because resilience worked in the same way to reduce critical hits, which is what crushing blows were. Avoidance stats and crushable blows weren't related. Although you could still push regular attacks of the hit table so that all incoming hits would be blocked dodged or parried. I could be making this all up in my own head though.
