Feb 28th 2011 3:28PM I've played a 'lock to 85 but haven't raided on him so I haven't done any long fights. I think the problem with shards is that they are not really a resource you manage, they are more like 3 once per fight cooldowns. Shorter cooldown on Soulburn and other ways to recoup shards in long fights would make them more of a resource.
Then again, having seen the agony of Vanilla locks, just doing away with the limiting factors of shards (summons, stones, demons) is enough for me. Those were just a needless burden. As is, better than it was, not yet exciting.
Feb 14th 2011 7:43PM Horseman comes with a Sinister Squashling? DO WANT!
Feb 8th 2011 4:33PM I'll just be happy to see Skull Bash properly in my combat log. I hate looking at Recount interrupts and not even seeing my name :-(
Feb 8th 2011 4:32PM Endless Winter is marvelous. No need to monitor RP waiting for critical interrupts makes everything easier. I've taken to competing with my pal the enhance shammy to see who can get the most interrupts in heroics (curse his shorter CD!!).
Hungering Cold as an AOE trash interrupt is also epic fun. And I love the glyphed version to death. Again, no need to monitor RP makes the it hugely versatile.
Feb 2nd 2011 4:16PM Tanking Ozruk is challenging and can be unforgiving. I love that fight, but I love tanking and that one is exciting.
OTOH, seeing "this instance is in progress" on Stonecore is ominous. And yeah, gotta love zoning in looking at a pile of skeletons...
Feb 2nd 2011 4:11PM Grim Batol and Stonecore seem to be the biggest LFG killers I've run. Corborus does a nice job in frustrating people that have trouble with coordination fights. He's really not a hard fight at all (if people just do a couple things right). But I'm sure he kills way more than his fair share of PUGs. Also the mechanics of Ozruk seem to really confuse people. I like that fight because of the "knife's edge" quality it. I also like that he hits the tank like a kitten so a healer and tank that can not die can solo him (they are upping his melee damage in the patch sadly).
I don't hate any heroics, but I cringe a little when I get BRC or GB. I think I just don't run BRC enough to be comfortable with it, but GB seems very unlucky for me. Bad groups, bad luck, afks, dcs, everything that can go wrong does. Not sure if it's the toughest heroic, but it's right up there.
Great to hear about people being decent to each other in randoms.
Jan 11th 2011 8:03PM For clarity. Entering TB Peninsula doesn't flag you. Crossing the bridge to TB doesn't flag you. Queuing for the battle from the bridge (i.e. when the battle is going on) does flag you.
On a PvE server you can do all the quests (except Victory In Tol Barad) without flagging once.
Jan 3rd 2011 3:39PM General rule I've followed for all Cata instances is (almost always*) interrupt it, purge it, stun it, cc it, spellsteal it. Anyone that can do their part in that makes a great PUG for heroics.
* Some restrictions apply. Void in SFK and SC. Do not remove this tag under penalty of law.
May 12th 2010 9:11PM "Stop casting while tanking."
Having a Pally tank as my main I weep when I see "Other Pally Tank cast Exorcism Rank X (Max at 80 is Rank Y)" pop up from my RankWatch during a boss fight.
Yes, you can use cast time spells while tanking, like when you are not getting hit. I use it to grab orbs on Princes that are half way across the room (since Keleseth isn't in melee range anyway most of the time), but 99% of the time... no.
Apr 23rd 2010 1:52PM I always go left in the first room in AK. Down the stairs and then (since if you go quick the pat is the just the right position) straight across the room (skipping left and right packs) to engage the pat right outside Elder's room. I don't know if this is common knowledge or not (I always tank), and it does require the rest of the group, you know, paying attention. Of course anything that gets me through AK faster is a good thing.
For the rest, yeah, 2 bosses in HoS the way I always seem to do it now. Never done much of the rest of the short cuts. Oddly I never skip Eck in GD. Not sure why, probably habit and simplicity.
