Obviously they will be going down in value rapidly until Mists drops and they bottom out at nothing. Then, theoretically, they will be replaced with something new.
Their value has actually been holding up surprisingly well, at least on my server.
Jan 9th 2012 12:20PM Int then spirit then haste (or mastery). You shouldn't have to reforge spirit because it should be on every single piece of gear you have.
Jan 8th 2012 9:25PM It's worth pointing out that many of the fights on Dragon Soul demand high burst healing (usually aoe) with built in regen phases. In my opinion, this fight design favors haste, which gives us the best pure throughput. Heal them up, hit divine plea and melee for mana, rinse and repeat. You pointed to Yor'soj and ultraxion as fights that might favor mastery, but on Yor'soj it's easy to end the fight at full mana by taking advantage of the down time, and on ultraxion, you have a built in divine plea phase, just make sure you macro a cancelaura and you can hit it every time.
Dec 9th 2011 2:27PM Mathematically, of course you are correct. But I think you skimmed over the most important element. Rational players should be selling their epic gems at currently prevailing prices, at least until they have purchased all other available gear upgrades. I would add that epic gems (at least reds) don't make sense unless you are placing them in heroic BiS gear.
Before people go switching to blacksmithing, remember that in 4.0 leatherworking provided a better benefit than the other professions and at a FAR lower cost than it would take for a blacksmith to get geared in full epics in the next two months. As we suspected, this benefit was only temporary until the new rare wrist enchants came out. It would be a fairly simple matter for Blizzard to release epic jewelcrafting recipes for chimera's eyes, either through world drops or as an additional item to be purchased from the same gem vendor in dragon soul. At the same time, they could, as you suggest, make the BS sockets rare only (no epics).
In the meantime, jewelcrafters on my realm appear to be making over 1k gold on each red epic gem cut, and of course they are making money hand over fist if they had the foresight to stock up on rare gems before 4.3 dropped. Most of the people QQing about the imbalance don't even have their current gear itemized perfectly. I know I have a gem wrong on my bracers, but I'm not going to fix it until I get my upgrade next week. Why would I buy an epic gem, let alone 20 of them?
Dec 6th 2011 5:00PM Fox Van Allen: I blame you for a spectacular jump in the price of chaos orbs on Proudmoore last night. Admit it, you just juiced the market for personal gain! You are trading on your own ability to move the markets.
That, sir, would not fly at the New York Times!
(all in good fun people . . . tone never translates in print)
Nov 9th 2011 5:05PM I'm not online to confirm this, but my understanding with cancelaura macros is that they need to be written in reverse because the macro system won't read beyond the first actual spell (trinkets and some buffs excepted). In any event, you don't want to instantly cast and cancel at the same time anyway.
If Dispersion is not on, this will skip over the cancelaura and then cast it. If Dispersion IS on, it will cancel it.
Nov 7th 2011 8:18PM Would Blizzard ever consider shutting down Outland? If not shut it down, at least adjust a few leveling zones and professions so that we don't have to go there. The quests in Zangarmarsh make me want to cry, and profession leveling mats are just getting ridiculous.
Nov 4th 2011 2:44PM In addition to "squishing" the stats, you should consider squishing the content. Whem MoP comes out, eliminate Outlands, squish it's gear levels, it's profession levels and mats, and rebalance a couple zones to get you through lvl 70. Then when the next expansion comes, eliminate Northrend in the same way. You could allow people to keep their old gear for mogging purposes, even make it all BoE. It might be a lot of work, but I'm sure it's less work than a complete revamp of obsolete content.
Oct 21st 2011 4:26PM They are quite clearly going for the kids. Bring in a fresh crop of 12 year olds who will be playing for the next ten years.
Oct 18th 2011 5:03PM The wording on beacon of light has already been corrected to add Word of Glory to the spells that DO transfer. It was apparently a typo that it was omitted from the patch notes.
