Nov 24th 2011 3:06PM Not my first WoW memory, but the most memorable moment was on my newbie Human Paladin during Vanilla, walking down the path into Wetlands. I remember saying "Holy crap, it's all so big"
Back then was different, I had seen Elwynn, Redridge and Dun Morough, and then seeing how big Wetlands was, I was in awe. I've been playing ever since.
Mar 21st 2011 10:25AM My personal perception on the burnout thing has a few different aspects to it..
1) Guild burnout - After joining a guild who began raiding at the end of Ulduar, we were geared enough that we could drudge through the material all the way up to LK at the end of the expansion - with mostly everyone in full T10 + 30% icecrown buff, people were lovin it - high numbers, progression through the 12 bosses - but now that it takes a bit of time to gear up and the difficulty skewed a bit - guilds are burning out because raiding isn't as 'easy'. Especially if you were in a 'scrub' guild moving through the content late. I think that once firelands is out, guilds will be more inclined to start running through BWD and BoT when T11 is a bit easier to obtain.
2) Player burnout - it again falls with the idea that late in Wrath there was a lot of content to 'farm'. PUGs were running ToC and Ulduar for kicks and w T10 easy enough to obtain, people were running icecrown w the buff and enjoying it.
Grinding out reps and dungeons with more of an emphasis on CC which increases time played, is a stark contrast from late WotLK which most people remember as the end felt like the last 8-10 months.
I think things will change once people begin to outgear the original heroics and start finishing the runs in less than 40mins.
We shall see though.

Great column Alex, I'm a pretty casual ret paladin and i've always been curious to add macro's to my game.
Mar 7th 2011 8:32AM WoW is definitely my #1 but recently i've been playing Halo Reach, NHL 11 and Sim City 4 (yeah, thats right).
Feb 22nd 2011 8:43AM No :(
I've had such a hard time logging in recently. I'm really sad about it too. I've played pretty regularly for about 4 years (at least 10-15 hours a week) but over the last week I did 1 heroic and 1 set of dailies. I just haven't felt the need to login. Our scrub end-of-wrath guild fell apart and I'm at my gear limit without moving into raids, so I'll be actively looking for a new guild and hopefully re-ignite my zest for the game and thus allow me to complete my world events.
Feb 3rd 2011 4:16PM It's just that people use the forums to complain about the game.
There are things I find frustrating about cataclysm but as a 24 year old in full time employment, it just doesn't bother me that much.
I want Ret DPS to fail less, I want Resto Shammy healing to get better, I want Volatile Air's to have a better drop rate. The Truegold transmute bothers me.
The simple fact is that people have to take the game in perspective. Ya, you pay $15 a month to play, so do I, because its a lot more fun than a lot of games I would otherwise play.
Blizzard knows whats up. They always, eventually, get to your *realistic* issue.
Jan 28th 2011 1:09PM Loved Lunar Festival now that you can fly around grabbing the Elders (and soloing regular WOTLK dungeons). Managed to get it on the first day in a couple of dedicated hours!
Should be a fun event here.
