Mar 6th 2012 12:56PM TotFW was not helped either by the fact that a good chunk of the loot that dropped was for slots that people could fill through much easier means. The Council dropped belts, a slot that already had a glut of items in it in T11. Nobody in my runs wanted these belts as we already had equal or even better options via crafting. There were the possibility of decent rings at least, but with the way the loot table worked, these were easy to never see drop.
Al'kir was even worse. Being one of the tougher fights in the tier, by the time you reached him there was a very good chance you either already had your tier pants or had gotten some off slot pants from the non-endboss encounters in BoT and BWD. The only item I can remember generating any interest was one of the caster permutations for the sword.
Hard Mode for the place got even worse. Council needed such an exact class make up to even down it. The loot problem again reared it's head as even though the stuff dropped in Heroic mode was better, it still had a very good chance of being the usual random junk, just with a better ilevel.
We mainly did the place to get our achievement credit and never went back. It was a real shame TotFW turned out like this, as it was the most gorgeous raid in T11. If Blizzard had even put something like bracers on the Council, you would have seen a lot more people happy to have tried the place. At least then they would have had a chance to get an upgrade for a slot that was extremely painful to fill for most classes in both the Heroic Dungeons and T11.
Feb 5th 2012 1:33PM One thing about the MegaBlox sets. Toy Fair begins this coming weekend, so we may get some more information then. Do not expect to much, but there is a chance for some mock ups showing up at Mega Brands display area in the Javits center. It all depends on how much they want to promote the license. That being said, they may just have a video showing footage from the games on a screen tucked away in the booth.
Jan 29th 2012 1:16PM There are some different ways to group this. You have stuff like Ultraxion's trash, which is not hard, but is so mind numbing boring.
For me, the worst trash would have to be the trash packs from SSC, yes all of them, before the place was nerfed a few times. It was bad enough that the fungal giants had a ridiculous amount of health, but the main kicker was the respawn timer. It was around a half hour, so by the time you got to Hydros, it would start respawning behind you, pretty much killing doing multiple attempts. Skipping Hydros was pretty much a no go as well because of this.
Thankfully Blizzard fixed all this the same time they got rid of the overpowered Skeletal Ushers in Kara. Some annoying stuff still remained, like the Naga Priestesses having Spirit of Redemption, but even that was eventually removed as well.
Jan 16th 2012 2:03PM I totally agree with the issue of group quests. I absolutely hated them when I got to them on alts just cause I could never find people. Then there were the area quests which were there own special torture, as they had problems if a lot of people were doing them and different if no one was. The way setting them off could always be wrecked, someone could set off a different stage during the one you were on, and thus ruining the attempt when two bosses were out in the field.
I was annoyed to see that format brought back in WotLK and irritated beyond belief when it showed up again in Cataclysm. Of all of the group quests to survive, they choose that kind.
What I am hoping now, with the addition of Scenarios, that this can be the new way to cover stuff like group quests. SInce they will be in their own mini-instance, and you queue for them, you will always be able to get a group. I wouldn't mind if they love the arena quest idea so much that they would put in this format too, at least that way you could completely avoid all the assorted issues assorted with them that made them so sadistic.
Jan 10th 2012 1:44PM Just one problem with your statement. This same exact thing happened before Cataclysm to Mac users who were still on Power PC machines and not on ones with Intel chips. Apple stopped supporting Power PC machines, and Blizzard followed suit, just like what they are doing here.
We got the main reasons why from Blizzard back when that happened. When the Main company stops supporting an OS or chip type, It becomes a lot harder for Blizzard to keep up with fixing the bugs.
Jan 6th 2012 2:03PM I have a question. Do we have an idea how tall the Pandaren models are in relation to the other WoW races? I have heard everything from as large as a Tauren to Blood Elf size.
The only references I can think of are Chen's appearance in WC3:TFT and his action figure, and both are not the best things to compare to how these will match up to the current races.
Dec 30th 2011 1:10PM I think that having at least one legendary be monk themed is a pretty safe bet, and maybe even two, if we get two this expansion. Monks are a major feature of MoP and the class/spec spread that has not had viable legendaries matches up very well with the spec options for monks. So staff for feral druids/Brewmasters and Fist for Monk DPS/Enhance Shaman.
If that totally does not work out, then I expect a tanking Legendary of some kind, the last option there was Thunderfury.
Besides, if there is a Hunter Legendary, it will most likely be a bow, going with how the items have been designed in Cataclysm. Yes, even though going from where Pandaria is based one and you should expect lots of crossbows and guns, the designers will still make the top weapons bows.
Dec 3rd 2011 11:03AM You left out the Bottled Wishes trinket from the VP vendor. http://www.wowhead.com/item=77114
The haste stat increase on this one is huge.
Nov 12th 2011 1:29PM Draenei do participate in Brewfest, they have a whole little area set up during the holiday that the Draenei in Exodar visit.
I see no issue with Draenei and beer. We have the Western European monks to thank for beer being well developed as it is now, they even discovered hops. I picture the Panadaren Monks pretty much being a merging of both real world monk types. The fighting skills from the ones from China, and the brewing abilities from the monks from Belgium.
Draenei actually make one of the better fits for being Monks, as they follow an extensive, organized religion, which can support monasteries to give Monks places to live.
Nov 5th 2011 3:26PM People have been wanting Nintendo make a Pokemon MMO for years now, but Nintendo has consistently dragged it's feet when doing things with an online component. I have a few friends who are very happy about the PBS because they finally get to do this kinda of gameplay in an MMO format.
