It's all a matter of opinion and taste. Remember, Molyneux designed games such as Populous, Dungeon Keeper, and Black and White. Minecraft's sorta right up his alley.

Mar 18th 2011 2:48PM The way that someone is FINALLY drifting away from the tried-and-true formula and trying to improve it. The break away from the Holy Trinity, truly dynamic content that changes the way the game is played for every individual, and a lot of focus on the player's story just as much as the rest of the world. Add in the Guild Wars awesome of skill-based builds that makes hundreds of combinations viable, some very neat looking races, and a deeply compelling lorebase, and you have a formula for winning right there.

Now can I have the book to get into it? Please?

Mar 18th 2011 2:41PM I've always had the utmost respect for Nintendo as they've released some of my absolute favorite games that dominated my childhood, but this new take on hobbyist developers is just appalling. The "garage developers", as they call them, are currently the only ones willing to take risks and innovate with new, interesting ideas because they have nothing to lose, an the Wii and 3DS would have a lot to profit from that, I think.

Sure, opening up the development to anyone with a Wii like Apple did with the iPad/Phone/Pod Touch runs the risk of over-saturating the market with less-than-stellar games, but as the number of games being released approaches infinity, the amount of really fun, profit-generating games being released also increases.

RIFT's head-start is standing room only {Massively}

Feb 25th 2011 12:22PM Got lucky. I logged in just as the servers came up (got to watch each one turn on individually, like someone was running down the server hallway hitting Enter on each one), got into my server, reserved the names I wanted, my wife wanted, and my friend wanted, then logged off to go back to work. Came home, had about a 3 hour queue time but eventually got in and had a blast playing. The servers are really rock solid in their stability. An incredibly smooth not-quite-launch, if I do say so myself.
