Trade skill crusader brings back customer service and sweat equity to crafting {WoW}

Trade skill crusader brings back customer service and sweat equity to crafting {WoW}

Feb 16th 2012 4:55PM Like Saeadame, I operate on tip-optional. Sure, I've been trolled at times (8 silver for a Blade Ward enchant in WotLK is the most memorable), but it creates good will. Players pay attention to crafters who are polite, patient, helpful, can be trusted to return leftover materials if their customer accidentally gives them too much or not log out if they have to switch toons, or donates mats to cover what is missing. Generally, they tip accordingly, whether in gold or in miscellaneous items. (Showing my game age here, but 4xMooncloth FTW!)

The Queue: Re-Vita-lized {WoW}

Feb 11th 2012 3:15PM Dagnabbit. This was suppose to be a reply to exogenesis. (http://wow.joystiq.com/2012/02/11/the-queue-re-vita-lized/comments/35402545/)

The Queue: Re-Vita-lized {WoW}

Feb 11th 2012 3:12PM I always assumed Tarenar Sunstrike and Gidwin Goldbraids was an homage to the deep friendship that developed between Legolas (an elf) and Gimli (a dwarf) from Lord of the Rings (appendix). But VioletArrows' and Drakkenfyre's explanation makes more sense.

Breakfast Topic: What are your WoW pet peeves? {WoW}

Jan 28th 2012 4:37PM "Eltoro & Lavaca" Now THAT is funny! (Translates as 'the bull' and 'the cow', respectively.)

How to write a roleplaying description that pops {WoW}

Jan 28th 2012 4:04PM "One of the most common mistakes that people make with character descriptions is that they confuse them with character histories."

I was fortunate that I learned this before creating a character on a role-playing realm. I want to really stress Anne's statement because it is so true. It is our natural inclination to include history with description because we know our story and want to tell it. Role-play interactions are give-and-take, though, and it's really no fun when the other person dominates the conversation. Practicing this helped shape my RP into a more meaningful experience for myself and my RP partners, and it's even improved my story-telling skills in my writings outside of the game.

As an aside: RoleplayersLament.com is a blog chock-full of examples of what NOT to do (several of which are NSFW) with very occasional examples of RP description correctly done. They even take the time to point out the reasons for why it is so bad in a snooty, sarcastic manner (think TotalBiscuit's style).

Blue Posts and Other WoW News: "Transsexual" being filtered, some words coming off filter list {WoW}

Jan 25th 2012 1:58AM I am an adult and always use the filter. There is enough trash I have to listen to when I step outside my house, I don't need to read it in a game that I want to be fun.

Sidenote: I was discussing online scams with guildmates and the conversation eventually led to @&!^&@!. (Nigeria. You can probably guess why it made the list.)

The aesthetic consequences of new character models {WoW}

Jan 23rd 2012 5:38PM From your keyboard to the Blizzard devs' eyes. Amen.

Gold Capped: Tracking the most frequently bought and sold items {WoW}

Jan 16th 2012 8:47PM Holy... I completely did. And now it's forever on the internet. T_T

Gold Capped: Tracking the most frequently bought and sold items {WoW}

Jan 16th 2012 8:28PM Mounts would not work. There are only two non-TCG, non-BoP mounts in the game - Reins of the Crimson Deathcharger and Reins of Poseidus. Everything else is BoP from a boss, quest, or from a mount vendor. You would have to take into consideration two guild perks, faction reputation, and goblin racial. Those factors would be impossible to track when taking into account the size of WoW's player-base, and tracking the previously mentioned mounts would be too small a sample size because of rarity.

Pets, however, might work. Leaping Hatchling, Darting Hatchling, and the Argent Tournament pets are probably the best bets.
