The Light and How to Swing It: Radical changes to holy paladins on the 4.3 PTR {WoW}

Oct 2nd 2011 6:26PM @Arann

Of the 5 healers, holy paladins have always been the most straightfoward. Large single target heals. Other healers have very interesting toolkits. Their heals work differently when played different ways. Paladin healing has always been simple. Heal the tanks and spot heal where you can.

Cata attempted to change that a bit, but as gear is increasing, Paladins have fallen back into that role of the tank healer again and our current holy radiance simply cannot compete with the other healer's raid healing.

Blizzard changes paladins so frequently because they have to keep us from spamming our largest heal on the tanks in order to be successful. They want us to be interesting and fun to play. But by the nature of the class, gear removes paladin gameplay overtime.

I welcome patch changes. I don't look at it as "re-learning" the class....but more-so watching paladins ever-evolving.

If holy never changed, then raiders would face burnout from monotony and die out. These changes are welcome.

Oct 2nd 2011 12:02PM Fishing doesn't need to go up 5 points...but instead it needs to go up with every fish you catch. I've tried levelling fishing a few times on a few different characters, but when it gets to a point where you get one point, for every like 9 casts, that's when I give up and never go back.

The Light and How to Swing It: How to rock Baleroc {WoW}

Jul 17th 2011 6:14PM While learning the fight on 25m we were using 6 healers, broken into two groups of 3. One person in group 1 calls out when there are 2 seconds left on their vital flame debuff, then group 2 switches to healing the tanks. When they have two seconds left on the debuff, one person calls out, and group 1 switches back to tanks.

We repeat this til the end of the fight unless decimation blade is going to hit near the end of a vital flame buff, at which case the person calling for the transition will call for their respective group to keep healing tanks. They will heal for another 15 seconds. In early attempts we were having a lot of tank deaths to decimation on a transition, and the second group not switching fast enough. This fixed that problem.

The Light And How To Swing It: Retribution changes and new gear in 4.2 {WoW}

Jul 3rd 2011 10:25PM Isn't holy usually on Sunday? And the other ones in the middle of the week somewhere? I always check wowinsider on sundays for the holy article. I is sad.

The Light and How to Swing It: Patch 4.2 lets our mastery stack {WoW}

Jun 12th 2011 6:19PM They need not just think about how to make mastery better, but how to make it outweigh spirit and haste.

The Light and How to Swing It: Patch 4.2 lets our mastery stack {WoW}

Jun 12th 2011 6:18PM Or have mastery have something to do with our mana.

For every 50 mastery rating the paladin has a 2% chance to restore 1% of their total mana when the illuminated healing bubble is absorbed.

The Light and How to Swing It: Patch 4.2 lets our mastery stack {WoW}

Jun 12th 2011 6:14PM I think the best way to effectively see mastery effect holy radiance would be to do something like:

Holy radiance places a non-stacking illuminated healing bubble on each target for 6 sec

or

Holy radiance places a stacking illuminated healing bubble on 5 low health targets.

or

Holy radiance refreshes the duration of all active illuminated healing bubbles on all targets.

Something, anything to do with holy radiance, and I can see it being strong.

Breakfast Topic: How do relationships in game affect relationships in real life? {WoW}

Jun 1st 2011 10:05AM The only time they have ever spilled over was during Wrath. My boyfriend started playing the game during BC. Me, wanting to spend more time with him, started playing too. But he was always in higher progression, so he raided in his guild. And I raided in mine. In fact, our in-game lives were very separate.

Then Wrath came, and he hated it, and he quit the game. I continued raiding 4 nights a week for the entire expansion.

He'd get upset about me worrying about raid times all the time. (You'd think he'd understand.) But where our in-game lives used to be separate and accepted, it stirred up quite a bit of friction.

Now we raid together in a H25m guild and spend tons of time together. (It only took us 3.5yrs to get there!)

May 30th 2011 3:07PM The hardest thing in the world for me was to faction change my Draenei Paladin to a blood elf. I xferred for progression and to raid with friends, and I felt like I was effectively killing her. Now she has a story in my head of still being a draenei, but in disguise, determined to infiltrate the horde and learn of their military "raiding" strategy.

Her guild note even is "Secret Space Goat". :)

Breakfast Topic: What keeps you playing? {WoW}

May 23rd 2011 8:22AM Raiding. With good people. Content never gets old or stale for me as long as everyone is logged on at raid time. I started raiding in BC, and I've never missed one lockout of any raid since. And it doesn't bother me that we raided ICC for a year...as long as I enjoy the company of the people I'm raiding with, its always fun for me.
