Mar 30th 2012 10:24AM When I register for a site I tend to use part of the site's name at the start of the address so I know if I'm getting spam where it might have originated from. I did try to make the account a "proper" one on the main Joystiq site, with a name and everything, but it doesn't appear to have stuck :-/
I can't even find the avatar option, let alone have it fail on me ;)
Mar 30th 2012 9:19AM The problem is that I have two mains, and 8... not-mains. The not-mains are alts, sure, but I can't go with that for the mains, so collectively they're all my toons.
I can't call them "my girls" because there's two male characters (can't stand the goblin female voice, it's like nails on a chalk board); and they're all at or very near 85 despite two of them being bank alts originally (one sat in Booty Bay at level 1 for ages before I got the levelling bug... walking is just so slooooow). Oh, and while many of them are Alliance, I have some Hordies too, with a warrior on each side (relic of the pre-dual-spec days).
And while I'm British, most of my guildies seem to be Danish - apart from the German main tank. They speak excellent English, but occassionally I'll make some slang remark that has them scratching their heads. So there's something to be said for keeping it simple, and not suddenly introducing "char" to the conversation.
Once a term is common currency, it's hard to shift... unless there's something much better (and/or funnier) to replace it.
Mar 28th 2012 11:42AM Sooooo many stories.... so little time. As a healer, it is, of course, always my fault when we wipe. Here's some recent highlights:
* Max level, it would be the guy that let my druid get her face eaten off during a boss fight, and then go out and pull the next mob without checking to see if I was even in the same room. And when the rest of the party pointed out that I wasn't back, he just said "Jeez, I'm not psychic."
* Levelling my shaman through Outland dungeons, I got "WTF HEALER I GOT NO HEALS AT ALL!" I'd been healing fine right up to the point where I got mind controlled by time lost guys he'd decided not to attack, but the big green glowing tether apparently wasn't a big enough clue even after two wipes. He couldn't find his caps lock key the whole dungeon.
* And the DKs that can't hold threat because they're in Unholy presence. It's one button to press, which isn't hard when everyone's trying to point it out to you.
Right after I hit Northrend on my Shaman, I managed to keep a pull from going bad - the tank was on one side of a room, the mage pet was tanking another set of mobs, and I kept everyone up, including Mr. Splooshy. The tank said "Nice healing!" afterwards, and I honestly thought he was just being sarcastic until he repeated it again at the end.
Mar 27th 2012 11:03AM Who says they haven't? :) If we're killing, dethroning or otherwise doing nasty things to Garrosh in the last patch, maybe it'll be 90-ised then?
Mar 26th 2012 6:53PM You could say this about a lot of things: better water and sun shafts; new skins for humans, orcs and dwarrow; new shaders and shadows; transmog... none of which will make any difference to core gameplay. However, WoW is now an old game, and all of these things mount up, especially with so much competition on the horizon. A new coat of paint, and paying attention to what their paying customers have been asking for, will keep people p[l]aying a little longer.
Mar 26th 2012 8:50AM @viciouspen: If you've never rolled a worgen before, I'd still do it and level to at least the end of the starting zone, which is excellent. You can do it in a couple of hours, and there's probably still a few months to go before you need to abandon/delete it in favour of your new, cuddlier furball.
Mar 25th 2012 2:27PM Bamboo's pretty strong, man. They use it as scaffolding in some countries.
Also, is it just me thinking, scribe mount?
Mar 25th 2012 2:12PM There are quite a few colour combinations though, and as you can get most flight path mounts as personal mounts... I would expect a purchasable one at some point.

Mar 17th 2012 9:23AM You may be interested to know that, for Firefox at least, you can reload certain tabs automatically (I think it's part of the Tab Mix Plus addon). I usually have my favourite sites set to 15 or 30 minutes, but it can go all the way down to every 5 seconds...
That's if the servers haven't already crawled off into a corner of the data centre to cry. I'm guessing there might be some increased traffic that day.
