Today in Pandaria: Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011 {WoW}

Oct 27th 2011 4:18AM I fell for it! Good thing I'm at work:)

I'm sure WoW has only just unlocked it's gayness potential. Next expansion our armor will be cut-off jeans hot pants, sun tan oil and a mustache, while weapons will be replaced by handbags. I can't wait.

The Daily Quest: I bring Pa -- OK, I just bring posts {WoW}

Oct 25th 2011 7:59AM @Tfish92. As you state: we know the key features. That should be enough to make at least provisional judgements about the expansion. You make positive ones, others (quite a lot) make negative ones.

Optional dungeon challenges. I have no idea what the rewards are, but if they are better than what you obtain from normal dungeons, then the challenges are not really optional.

Have you heard of the idiom: "The straw that broke the camel's back"? I'm sure Mists of Pandaria isn't the only thing that makes players quit, but it might be said straw.

When you have 10 million subs, surely you are doing something right. However, when you offer Diablo III for “free” to 12 month subscribers then you are evidently a little worried about the drop in subs as well.

@SmokeTheBear: I agree that the new talent system will not necessarily end in a balancing nightmare or be hard to learn. However, if you think it will provide you with any kind of choice (assuming you are a raider), then you are deluding yourself. One spec will always be marginally better than another for the role you play, and you will be expected to use that spec. Also you use the word simplify as if it's a good thing, one might as well say "dumb-down". I like my games complex.

On a side note: Has critical writing gone the way of the dodo on wow-insider in order to protect the game that ultimately is your livelihood? All I see is panda-praise and general fan-boyism, while a considerable part of the community is worried about the change in target audience, from including adults to excluding everything but drooling toddlers. Man up wow-insider, you are better than this.

The Light and How to Swing It: Basic retribution cooldowns -- when to pop your wings {WoW}

Jul 14th 2011 4:01AM All Clcret does is free your eyes from your bars by showing you which abilities are off CD (in a prioritized order) wherever you like on your screen. You still have to make your own choices to maximize your dps, and for that you need intimate knowledge about your abilities.

Mindless spamming the buttons Clcret suggests might get you average dps, but you will never maximize your potential doing it.

I just found it, so I can't vouch for it's accuracy, but it look like our only possibility.

Shifting Perspectives: Building a better balance druid rotation -- gaming Eclipse {WoW}

Jun 11th 2011 10:16AM Maybe Blizzard shouldn't be trying to make boomkins like all other casters, but make all other casters more like boomkins. Complexity is fun, spamming 2 nukes all night is not (I'm looking at you arcane mages). The rotations of all classes should allow for massive difference between skilled and unskilled players, so that effort and knowledge is rewarded.

Granted the rotation has it's flaws, like having to move to maximize your AoE (I prefer only to move when my feet are burning). But this is getting fixed when we all drop Lunar Shower in 4.2.

My boomkin skills are by no measure perfect, but I enjoy playing a class where I know skill and knowledge is rewarded, and I can improve my dps not only with new gear, but with increased effort as well.

Shifting Perspectives: Building a better balance druid rotation -- gaming Eclipse {WoW}

Jun 11th 2011 9:49AM Nope that would be because they suck. Stick them on the Twisted Spirits, all they have to do is make sure they are in either eclipse and spam moonfire/sunfire while using typhoon and Starfall liberally.

Patch 4.2 PTR notes for May 10 {WoW}

May 11th 2011 3:27AM I sporadically play my boomkin in raids, and I think the playstyle is getting increasingly difficult to master, and the constant changes doesn't make it any easier.

All through this patch we've had to find work-arounds to maximize our AoE dps, sunfire spamming + mushroom planting while moving all over the place, is clearly not our intended AoE rotation. These changes seems to end this and force us to do our intended AoE rotation, but without buffing any of our AoE abilities, which would be a nerf.

Singletarget dps is probably not going to change, which is sad because I have seemed to take a hit from the Starsurge nerf. My retri pally in similar gear is always in the top 3 dps-wise, while my boomkin struggles in the lower half of the raid. Maybe I just suck at playing boomkin, but there seems to have been changes in this expansion which made it worse.
