How could tanking design be changed? {WoW}

Jan 11th 2012 3:12PM Blood DKs have had active mitigation all along. Plain and simple, the only way we're up to par with other tanks is because we use Death Strike. Death Strike gives us Blood Shields, and mastery increases the size of those Blood Shields.
Frankly, I see Blizzard moving more towards this kind of design than anything else. I don't mean self-healing for all classes. I mean shield tanks will want to use a main ability to increase their survivability, while druids will probably have their emphasis on critting slightly increased. Somehow the devs are going to tie this into needing certain levels of expertise and hit. However, if there's no direct survivability benefit, then tanks won't gear hit and expertise. (Remember, they tried to get tanks to have hit and expertise in t11, by t12 the tanking community told them how dumb that was. There was simply more benefit to taking actual "tanking" stats.) So, rather than increasing threat, so-called "dps stats" would have to increase your ability to stay alive and take big hits more effectively. Personally, I hope tanks won't have to be expertise capped or hit capped, but that we might have to be halfway capped.

Jan 11th 2012 2:55PM DK's Blood Shield is also only physical. The only reason us Blood DKs consider the fact that magic damage hits us a good thing is because then we heal more through Death Strike and can therefore mitigate physical damage via Blood Shields better.

Jan 7th 2012 3:16PM There's a plane of Earth, Water, Fire, and Air. Technically, frost is a combo of air and water (cold air + water = frost). Besides, Ahune the Frostlord is a holiday cheese boss; there's not a lot of supporting lore behind holiday bosses. And there's not supposed to be. They're fun, they're easy (beat on boss for 1min while ignoring mechanics), and they drop holiday specific loot. In other words, there is no "frost" plane.

Jan 1st 2012 1:30PM Oh, and for those of you hating on GC, you forgot that WotLK was under his leadership. That expansion was, by far, the most successful expansion. In the wake of that, it's not unnatural for a dev team to try a few things out in Cata.

The Raid Finder, the Dungeon Finder, point caps and you {WoW}

Dec 31st 2011 2:55AM They put up the barriers so that people don't just get all their gear instantly. After all, if I get everything I want within the first week of a new patch, why should I continue to play? I'll come back next patch and do the same, if I really want to. The caps are, plain and simple, ways to increase playability. And I support that idea.
