Mists of Pandaria Beta: Male pandaren hairstyles gallery {WoW}

Mar 30th 2012 8:17PM So will the Pandaren only have ONE face option to choose from, are gettng another female Worgen happening to both genders this time??

Me sad Panda if so......:(

Breakfast Topic: Has your opinion about the pandaren changed? {WoW}

Mar 26th 2012 12:14PM My view has changed I must admit. Mostly due to the Pandaren philosophy is I have come to see, so very much like my own or at least strive to attain.

I have seen people freak out about the Pandaren having a "shallow" feeling story/lore wise. Have you even BOTHERD to see what the Pandren culture is?? Basing it on four major clans each identifying a super cool animal god with distinct attributes is quite deep to me and feels very different from the majority of other races in game.

I won't even touch how awesoe the actual main storyline of the Hord and Aliance war is.

As someone who is of Asian and European descent (although NOT chinese), I still love it because we have not see such culture be seriously used before. And at least blizzz has officially said they are not trying to make Pandaria ONLY "china" with the use of terms like ninja they are already bridign into other cultures. Plus for any asian groups to be to sensitive, Chinese culture has been to the surrounding cultures what Romman civilization has been to Europe, the foundation/bedrock of basically everyone else. Does not mean they are superior you should just give such cultures the respect they deserve and feel proud to be connected to them.

So when people say Pandaren are cheap or some kind of gimmick they are the same who think Garrosh is evil because he "offended" Sylvanas. A zombie whose existence is doing anything and using anyone she can to not return to WOW hell for all eternity and willingly uses the plague to melt people into goo. Ya she sure has moral high ground.

Anyhoo, I quite love the look and everything that is coming with Pandaria especially for a solo player like me. If you truly hate Pandas for whatever silly reason you can always go play star wars, I mean Gungans are SO much more a serious race after all....

So I have totally embraced the Pandaren. :)

Pandaren lore and what we know so far {WoW}

Mar 22nd 2012 8:47PM I am pretty sure the turtle has not been seperated for 10.00o years, more like for the last few centuries from our present day game time. So with this in mind they have not been blocked from each other as mainland Pandaren who feel the urge to explore go out to the turtle who can, it seems, go back and forth between the mists.

Blizz has basically said they are the more adventurous ones, but beyond that the overal culture is the same.

When I first heard of the turtle it immediately brought to mind the relationship of Hong Kong to mainland China in respect to cultural differences, only it being wow, it is WAY cooler! ;p

Pandaren lore and what we know so far {WoW}

Mar 22nd 2012 8:37PM Just a minor quibble to note, when you throw out the idea of Pandaren architecture influencing Night elves, my japanese genes gotta speak up.

Night elf Architecture after the rise of Druidism is Japanese, specifically those big gates by their boats, those are called Torii gates and are a distinct look to Shinto Shrines, the native multiple god worshipping religion of Japan; so very Japanese.

Also pre=druid times the Night elves had a very Greco-roman style ala Darnassus/Dire Maul.

I know its easy for people to mix Chinese and Japanese culture up a lot even referring to the Shado=pan as "ninjas" which were a Japanese thing. I am not a nazi about such things just tossing this out there......thatt he night elves have a very japanese almost Celtic vibe where the Pandaren are very Chinese.

I LOVE how the Pandaren lore for their religion is shaping up though :)

The Queue: Ask the beta testers {WoW}

Mar 22nd 2012 1:12PM Considering how sick and tired EVERYONE got over Thrall in Cata I cannot believe blizz would be so stupid as to put him back in charge....from a narrative perspective having such a Mary Sue as your top faction leader would just kill the horde alliance conflict and all of Cata was basically saying Thrall is not in fact loved by the entire Horde nor does he really fully understand it.

I know Metzen LOVES the guy but I really hope he can get it that we do NOT want Thrall back. Keep him neutral as a leader of the Earthen Ring to become a protector of Azeroth like Malfurion and when big bads like say, Sargeras eventually come then people like Thrall can bring the smack down.

I think after Garrosh's defeat Thrall should be there, decline the title and give it to another like Vol' jin. That troll is just so bad ass, he can work the alliance but has no sentimental sides for it either and if he does give the final blow to garrosh I think it would send an awesome message/symbol to the rest of the Horde to his power.

Even as an alliance fan boy, Vol-jin for Warcheif, just PLEEEEASE no Thrall!

That blizz guy asks who doesn't want to see Thrall as warcheif? EVERYONE!!!!!!

Know Your Lore: 5 must-do Alliance zones to complete before Mists {WoW}

Mar 18th 2012 10:25PM Hey Anne, what were your thoughts on Surwich?

I LOVED that lil nugget of Worgen yummy sauce. The only downside was how short it was. You had continuation of the Worgen leaving Gilneas, very Gilnean architecture but with all the demons it had a very different tone but a beautiful one given that waterfall in the middle of it. Finally the ending of the story has Worgen DRUID lore and is so bittersweet when you beatt he final boss it almost brings a tear to the eye, the poor guy, er pooch.

I always do Surwich and my RP character lives there too ;p

Shifting Perspectives: Making life hell for groups with Mists of Pandaria druid talents {WoW}

Mar 6th 2012 5:02PM Dear Allison,

That video is why I always tune into wowinsider, thank you so very much for it. I have never been more proud to be a Druid bear, Japanese and my proudly socialist Canadian values.

Also I love roaring and bashing so man it all fits for me lol.

But does anyone know if our forms will actually CHANGE with Incarnation? I freaking love how it sounds I am just hoping we get some kind of cosmetic change, not expecting brand new models (tho poor moonkins need it like crazy) but I hope we at least get some sparkly stuff......any thoughts?

Totem Talk: Possible talents for restoration shaman {WoW}

Mar 6th 2012 1:15PM What about some kind of water damage attack? I adore the water spell animations but I am also a solo player with little interest in group healing (hey the game caters to many types right? ;p) and have been rather saddened their is virtually no offensive ability involving water.

Resto druids have several buffs to their spells and animal forms so why not give resto shamans the ability to send forth a deadly stream of water that knock enimies down or even a burst ability to knock enimies away who gang up like the Druid's Typhoon?

I also REALLY want a different sheild animation then those lil balls that fly around you, I find them extremly distracting and annoying. Blizz could do such cool things instead like have your characters skin actually darken brown and glow of and on with earthen power or have little sparks of lightening race up and down the body.

What do you guys think?

The trials and tribulations of being a raiding roleplayer {WoW}

Mar 3rd 2012 7:19PM Lovely article as always Anne.

But have you seen the latest episode of MLP: FIM? I ask due to you having such awesome taste in posting it every now and then and the episode had a Tauren, I mean Minotaur, on it and it was all about being assertive.

It just made me think of you and all the other awesome kooky writers at Wowinsider, especially Mr. Rossi with his "beefy" warriors and always stimulating articles. As an intellectual oldish fart myself I always appreciate his and your (not saying you are an oldish fart just myself and Mr. Rossi ;p) articles, they really put a smile on one's face.

World of Warcraft patch 4.3.3 64-bit client {WoW}

Feb 28th 2012 6:02PM You seem MUCH more in the know of this than me and I would so appreciate any advice and clarification from you.

I play on a EU relam and whenever I would download the client from the EU wow site it would only give me the option of my US realm that is closed and inactive. I got a royal ring around by blizz support and even tried asking wowinsider but got no luck. Seriuously I went into all the nitty gritty details and everything is working right but each time only the us realm pops up in 64 bit mode and that acount is closed.

So I was wondering when it it says not yet supported and is technically a beta thing does this mean eventually it will be official and when we go into options then game preferences the choice between 32 and 64 will be there? I also have a 64 bit system with 4 gigs. I am content to wait I guess when it becomes "offiical" I just find all this rather confusing and uber frustrating how it just will not work on my EU account.....

Any words of reason would be uber appreciated!
