The Lawbringer: Dispelling the panda myths {WoW}

Oct 28th 2011 5:14PM The other aspect to the position that the Chinese didn't want their equivalent of a national symbol to be mixing with Japanese culture could be more benign. In a world where Asian is a blanket term, it's very easy to say "Chinese, Japanese, whatever."

However, by protecting the fact that pandas have nothing to do with Japan, the Chinese are allowing distinction to be made between the two ethnic groups.

This isn't to say that racism or racial distrust, or outright bigotry doesn't play a role in the decision of the Chinese to raise a stink about pandas in samurai garb, but I feel the issue is more than this one-sided approach — even if it is to keep pandas from being associated with "those people" there is still a cultural acknowledgment of a difference between the Chinese and the Japanese.

Ugh, wordy comment is wordy.

Encrypted Text: How to run the Molten Front {WoW}

Jul 21st 2011 3:30PM All of these people confused over what "world PvP" really is amuse me.

PvP: Player versus Player. Out in the world. That's it, definition over with, see you in the Molten Front, in front of Firelands, or at the Sanctuary of Malorne.

This talk of "honor" and "respect" in PvP is ridiculous. In the days of TM/SS, it was simple. Some level 60 tapped a leveler. Said leveler got upset, called in guildies or friends, or his main and reciprocated. Then the ganker called in his friends, and so on, until we had the epic battles all of you "honorable" people care about.

I read a few comments saying "after someone is ganked we group up and try to find them" guess what, that's the true solution! Get friends, it's a social game, and wreck havoc back on the guy attacking you.

I PvP on my server. I don't BG, I don't Arena very much, but I do PvP. I gank, or I "honorably" attack someone who is at full health standing around, and it's quick, relatively painless. Occasionally I get my teeth knocked in then corpse run back. Camping is relatively dead to me, because I have things to do besides wait around for you to decide to come back for more.

People complain about there not being enough World PvP, or there's not enough social interaction or immersion in the game. The Molten Front shockingly fixes these things, but it's up to the PLAYERS to actually implement it. WE need to group up, WE need to set up a gank or counter gank.

If you don't like the prospect of getting ganked, I hear PvE servers are great for that.

The Daily Quest: Mastering the game {WoW}

Apr 4th 2011 5:46PM I'd love to be added to the list!, is a place for rogues, mostly combat specced ones, to maximize their PvE game. I'm on the second post of a series "Theory of UI," and my conditional macros post was picked up by TDQ last week.
