Nov 29th 2011 9:01AM Whilst there are several features I'm excited about, the Raid Finder is definitely at the top of the list. My guild is small and very casual so we never even got past the first boss of BoT. Friendship trumps loot though and I would never dream of leaving. However, I would dearly loved to have done the raids purely for the experience of seeing the content and witnessing the progression of the storyline. Yes pugs are possible but difficult if you can't meet the "pst 6/7 achieve or no reply" requirement. I would have happily foregone a chance at loot just for the opportunity to see the fights.
As a consequence, I am excited about the Raid Finder not so much for the loot but for the opportunity it gives those of us who never got the chance to raid to see what the fuss is about, even on a stripped-down scale.
Jul 17th 2011 8:26AM Stitches from Duskwood. I remember as a new WoW player entering Duskwood for the first time and feeling palpable sense of dread. The eerie ambient sounds, the mist, the darkness, the undead and spiders and worgen combined to ensure my poor pally stayed as close to the middle of the road as was possible.
In the midst of all this creepiness Darkshire was a safehaven, guarded by the stalwart Night Watch. It was the only place in the entire zone that my nooby self felt safe. Imagine, then, my terror at hearing the crier tell the citizens to take up arms as an abomination approached. Then to see this stitched-up nightmare wander into town and decimate my feelings of security along with half the town's populace.
I made sure to go back and kill Stitches when I was able but to this day he still brings back memories both frightening and nostalgic (remembering how cool it felt before heirlooms made my fear of same-level mobs evaporate).
Jul 9th 2011 8:36PM Great article as always! I have a quick question regarding Mage questing. I leveled my Mage to 85 at the very end of Wrath and found myself burning through zones pretty quickly thanks to heirlooms. I was wondering if there are any Mage-lore quests I may have missed which I should go back and revisit. I was thinking along the lines of the old pally charger quest or the rogue quest to get poisons or your thieves toolkit. Any quests that have a specific Mage-focus newly minted Mages should look out for while questing?
Jun 23rd 2011 1:09PM Q for the Q: If you could be any of your characters, which would you choose? I think I'd pick my Nelf Druid if only for epic flight form. And while the idea of Death Knights and the Forsaken are cool lore-wise I don't know how much fun the whole undead thing would be.
