Patch 4.3 PTR to go live potentially within the week {WoW}

Sep 25th 2011 1:56AM I honestly think that's why ToR picked that date. It's a bit far for WoW to delay patch 4.3, but also too soon for the expansion. Blizzard can't really do much to interfere with that one.

Breakfast Topic: How do you prefer to access "hard modes"? {WoW}

Jun 2nd 2011 10:31AM That idea is a joke.

No, I mean, literally, it's an April Fool's joke Blizzard played. In 2010, they basically said this type of phasing based on gear would happen:

February's Guild of the Month: The Earthbound {WoW}

Jun 1st 2011 4:21PM Testing to see if clearing my cache has fixed the avatar issue I'm having. Hello all you people stuck here in March!

Patch 4.2: Crystallized Firestone makes gear heroic {WoW}

Jun 1st 2011 4:14PM To be fair, he could be talking about the firestone itself, which, if you never do heroic'll indeed never see drop.

Dev Watercooler: Cataclysm talent tree post-mortem {WoW}

Jun 1st 2011 3:39PM "Oh come on, you totally took that out of context!

Did you miss the exposition before that about how game-changing talents had to be at the lower branches of the talent trees?

Or even the "This would be totally broken" comment just five words before your quote?"

Yes, I saw all of that. And no, I'm not taking it out of context. The exposition and the fact that he is aware it's a silly idea is EXACTLY why I think he shouldn't have even mentioned it. Taking it out of context would mean ignoring those stated problems, which is likely to actually happen down the line.

Ghostcrawler knows that the things he says get harped on for years. We've got pony memes and disclaimers before most of his new blog entries to prove it. When someone goes around believing that this change will or could ever go through, THEN you can run around telling them they took it out of context.

Patch 4.2 New Hunter Pets: Ahnka {WoW}

Jun 1st 2011 2:51PM Only because it's been laid out for you. The strategy is so counter-intuitive, that it would probably take your average player a few tries before they decided to do something "just crazy enough to work."

Patch 4.2 New Hunter Pets: Ahnka {WoW}

Jun 1st 2011 2:50PM The hunter in my core group raids as BM, and while he does occasionally hear suggestions to switch -- verging on "complaints" -- the fact is, he's able to keep up just fine.

If you're talking about a cutting edge progression guild that's trying to stay at the forefront of heroic modes each tier, you'll be hard-pressed to find a BM hunter, I'd imagine. But you definitely can raid in BM if you have a less hardcore group willing to let you play what you enjoy.

Patch 4.2 New Hunter Pets: Ahnka {WoW}

Jun 1st 2011 1:35PM When Blizzard decided to put less emphasis on class quests, it was because they didn't want to spend too much development time on content that only a small percentage of the players would see.

With that in mind, I would perhaps say that this doesn't quite qualify since a hunter with one of these pets is going to at least be visible to the rest of the players, moreso than, say a level 30 libram or that you'll replace in 10 levels or something.

Also, in sheer development time and uniqueness of the "quest" it kind of pales in comparison to giving only Warlocks the dreadsteed quest. This is just another few mobs hanging out in the world. In fact, if you look even through these comments, you see people upset that the models aren't "unique" enough. So, it's hard to say they spent too much development time on this, which would make it contrary to their new stance on class quests.

It is interesting that Hunters get this little extra meta-game, though, even if I don't feel that it really violates the "no class quests" rule.

Patch 4.2 New Hunter Pets: Ahnka {WoW}

Jun 1st 2011 1:29PM I think I speak for the entire WoW community when I say that nobody ever speaks for entire communities.

Patch 4.2 New Hunter Pets: Ahnka {WoW}

Jun 1st 2011 1:28PM "taking off your gear to not get one-shot is going to make killing it difficult."

Well, taking off the gear with armor, at least. And if you simply have a low armor "tank," this could make a fun challenge for a group kill. :P
