Patch 4.2 New Hunter Pets: Ahnka {WoW}

Jun 1st 2011 1:09PM If one of the pets requires you to feign death prematurely, the hunter in my guild will definitely be able to tame it!

Dev Watercooler: Cataclysm talent tree post-mortem {WoW}

Jun 1st 2011 12:17PM "but imagine you could spend those last 10 points anywhere in another tree. Much more exciting, huh?"

Oh, why oh why did you say this?

Jun 1st 2011 11:41AM Yeah, some of the heroic bosses have some good ones. Ozruk comes to mind.

As far as raids, I like Cho'Gall's crazy duel-voice thing, but can't think of many other super memorable ones from T11.

I do enjoy the hunter from Firelands, as well as Lord Ryolith's "little fleshy things" comments. The firebird is pretty much Sindragosa V2, right?

Jun 1st 2011 11:21AM I'm just mad at Adam for exposing me to the existence of this ridiculous crap. :(

Encrypted Text: Rogues need to be number one {WoW}

Jun 1st 2011 11:05AM I don't know about Enh. Shammies, but I wouldn't say ret pallies are suffering from any of the issues listed in the article. Target switching doesn't really do much to a ret pally's DPS outside of the time it takes to run from one target to the next (and we do have a couple ranged attacks to fill that time). Censure is the only thing we have to build up again, and it stacks up pretty damn quickly.

AoE scenarios barely affect our rotation at all -- it's just switching out a couple abilities -- and we were even given the ability to continue building Holy Power through it. With the other buffs in 4.2, ret pally AoE is going to be even more effective.

I know the fights themselves tend to favor ranged over melee, so we're all in the same boat there, but it sounds like rogues are far worse off just in general due to their sheer mechanics.

May 27th 2011 11:07AM "Yes, you'll still get VPs for your first seven random heroics and seven Zandalari heroics, up to the 980 Dungeon Finder cap."

Also, the heroic versions of tier 11 raids will still drop valor points.

Chinese prisoners forced to farm gold {WoW}

May 26th 2011 4:35PM The in-game economy is a meta-game that many people enjoy legitimately participating in.

I honestly don't think the answer here is for Blizzard to essentially cave in to these operations by changing their game for the worse. I, for one, wouldn't be happy at all if I suddenly knew that my daily warcraft sessions were suddenly going to become nothing more than grind quests for emblems, then grind dungeons for emblems.

A BoE drops? Who cares! Disenchant it! Unless you don't need any enchants right now, because you can't sell the shard anyway!

In fact...you'd have to pretty much make everything BoP...even shards and mats, because otherwise, the farmers can just sell you items for cash instead of the gold itself.

I certainly appreciate that you're trying to come up with an idea to fix a bad situation, but I think there's a bit more to it than what you've proposed. :(

May 26th 2011 4:19PM Which is exactly why I very specifically added the caveat: "Were it not for this being 'in addition to' other labor and the physical abuse, etc."

Chinese prisoners forced to farm gold {WoW}

May 26th 2011 4:16PM I suspect it has to do with the way China sometimes forces Blizzard to change things, delaying expansions for way too long. All the various delays and controversies with WoW China, etc.

I imagine WoW has sympathy for Chinese players who want to play on other servers to get unedited, up to date gameplay. I think most of them play on Taiwanese servers (if I remember right), but maybe there are enough playing on US servers that Blizzard doesn't want to take away that access from the few legitimate players just to carpet bomb the gold farmers.

Besides...would they find some way to get around it with proxies? (This is a legitimate question...I'm not up on how that stuff works.)

May 26th 2011 4:08PM Ah, at least Stella's here to complain about micro-transactions for the umpteenth time. Classy, in the face of a story about a sad violation of human rights.
