Nov 19th 2011 5:02AM There is good and bad to all, last night myself and 4you guildies got into one if these "black hole" groups they had been wiping on the spine for hours, after three pulls and wipes we convinced the leader to pass lead to myself(raid leader of top 200ish 25 man guild) one shot the spine. Using raid warnings I made the fight simple for everyone we turned around and wiped at 3% on madness on the first pull and had a kill with lust still available and all 25 alive when it bugged and wouldn't reset(love the ptr). In all honesty all each group needs is a good leader and they will burn through the content(fwiw I was top 10 dps each pull of both while tabling in a full progression tanking set, so the tuning is right in line with what's needed).
Sep 6th 2011 2:35PM As with many there is much left out for many comments to be fully in context. Is the guild ran like a democracy? Were past officers voted or discussed? Were current officers getting the job done? One of the most frustrating things about being a Guild Leader is when you have to harass officer to do what they know was expected of them, when you have to do that you may as well bring in new blood to do it. It sounds like ACO should be grateful that he and the others were not demoted in the wake of this. Secondly being an officer is not a right you have, unless spelled out there is no timeline that is required for a member to be in the guild then you have nothing to stand on and you should be really happy you didn't get gkicked.
Aug 30th 2011 12:25PM Again they didn't raid 25 man with a 25 man raid roster, it just doesn't happen. If they were trying their officers are to blame. In reality a 25 man raid team should have 30 players at a minimum(generalization here at its best) but in a guild that does calendar invites I would say 34-35 in my honest opinion.
Let me give one example of how having 25 players for 25 man raiding doesn't work....hey guys next month im on vacation going on a cruise ill be gone for two weeks. Then what? You hate the player and don't raid?
Here is what people forget from both sides. Yes this is just a game, however within the game you do make time commitments to other players who set aside time out of their lives as well. In addition it doesn't matter if its a game, a social event, work related etc....a death in your family is more important....your safety and well being is more important...school is more important...your significant other and children are more important. Now you should have the courtesy to notify someone and(this could be one side of the story leaving things out) it appeared the guild didn't have a section of the website set up for missing, nor should they in all honesty sine you sign up for raids.
These are y conclusions and this is coming from the GM and raid leader of a top 200us 25 man guild(so there is where the perspective of it lies). Poor officer communication started the issue, poor officer judgement caused the letter, however the officer manned up and apologized, so at that point that situation should be over...be it gquitting or letting it go. Not showing up for the raid....it seems the guild has an opt in process with the signups and not an opt out like you are expected there post out to let us know when you wont be. Should you leave after going to a 10 man.....HELL YES the leadership of this guild couldn't sustain what they previously promised and as such why will they with it being 10 man? There are more than enough raiders who only want to raid 25 man out there, so again on their end its too much work for them to carry a proper roster what will happen when re novelty of 10 man wears off? Same thing will happen, poor and lazy leadership will persist in 10 mans and problems with leadership that led here will come up again.
Aug 30th 2011 12:37AM If this is a guild where you are expected to have near 100% attendence I very highly doubt they are doing calendar invites....guilds like that(mine is one, I require 90% attendence) have a schedule and you are expected to be there.
As far as 24 other people....I can guarantee they didn't have a 25 man raid roster and if they did then its the officers fault not a raiders who misses due to tragedy striking. Secondly he informed the raid leader, who is the person in charge of raiding....kind of like informing your direct boss you are missing work to attend a funeral, so again the officer who berated him was in the wrong for not knowing since he did inform the raid leader.
Aug 29th 2011 9:59PM I agree 100% I am the GM and Raid Leader of my guild and never have I ever even thought of sending a mail like that. If I have someone who is reliable and no shows honestly im getting worried because they have shown that dedication. For those who want to say 24 others depend on you.....bullshit if you raid 25 man with a 25 man raid roster then you have shit leadership. The officer was being a prick yes....he apologized yes...if at this point you haven't left over it Scott is 100% correct in saying just let it go. As far as the ten man, personally I would look for a new guild. The guild you are in has fundamentally changed from what you joined it as so you have every right to look elsewhere.
In regards to the 10 vs 25 thing, they can never be equally difficult, based off spacing and pesonal accountability 10 mans do have the advantage, if they raid stack they have a massive advantage. However there are situations they have to chalk up to rng and wipe that 25 mans can cover(think interrupters on heroic nef). Bottom line is this compare your progression to your raid size doing anything else gives you a skewed view of things. As far as world firsts they will all be done by 25 mans for a long time because these guilds have been around in that format for a long time and thus have th skill, synergy, and drive in place....add to it as the top guilds they get the top applicants as well.
Aug 25th 2011 11:18AM That is far from true, most of the time we have to Pug a few people for our alt run(its 5/7 firelands) and I never look at item level, I look at spec/gemming/past achv dates....I used to run a trade chat Pug on my old server that killed Lich King before 85% of the guilds there and I took lower GS players all the time over those with higher scores...after doing that run for only a few weeks it was no longer pugging in reality as we would have the same people every week who waited until I got out of my main raid Monday nights....many of these people outprogressed their mains via my run, many of them got into the run with lower ilvl than alternative options.
Jul 2nd 2011 5:28PM Thank you for the kind words, I worked the tail end of the music around Requim because in my opinion it really is the most epic feeling song especially in that incarnation of it. The ui is built around LuI so if you really like it that is a great place to start, I have some custom things, but the UI package of mine is still on wowinterface.com under tanking compilations.
I liked the way the video turned out overall, although I agree with Mr. Gray that it felt a little too slow at times. Hopefully for the Firelands video I can remedy that and get much better camera work for some flythrough and trash portions, although I do plan on keep the actual heroic encounters of normal footage. Although on some of the easier one's I may hide my UI for portions of the fight to give it a bit more cinematic feel. Hopfully you subscribe and will be there to see when it is uploaded, and hopefully it will be enough of an improvement over the BWD movie to be worthy of being on moviewatch!
Jul 1st 2011 6:31PM @vitos take the quest one, I am going to guess you aren't blockcapped anyway.
Seperation anxiety hits at 80 or 90 yards, it is not 100 we set our two tanks off our holy paladins positioning, the one time I went further than his max range shannox got pissed and ate our warrior tanking him.
Jul 1st 2011 12:45PM If you are saying you can get the job done with no addons....well you must never have raided hard modes. It is actually my UI and it was pretty popular as a package on wow interface until I stopped updating it. Again please be more clear on your opinion, what addons are not needed? Maybe if you play on a 15" monitor but that UI happens to be made for a 27"
Jul 1st 2011 2:45AM I really have no idea what you are referring too, the Ui is very compact and clean while providing all the information that I need as a tank and raid leader.
