Spiritual Guidance: First impressions of the Mists of Pandaria beta from a healing priest {WoW}

Apr 3rd 2012 9:09AM I do have some hope that Priest mana regen isn't finished yet; I know we have the ability to restore mana still via Shadowfiend and Hymn of Hope, but I feel there should be more then that still. ~2500 combat mp5 just doesn't seem like enough when spells stay at about the same cost as Live at 85, while we're losing both passive regen and specialization regen bonuses.

At the moment, my Holy Paladin is still gets a +30% combat regen buff via Judgements of the Pure, and my Restoration Shaman still gets +447 mp5 through Water Shield. They still have their mana regen buttons (Divine Plea and Mana Tide Totem, respectively), and the Shaman still gains mana when healing spells crit via Resurgence.

Apr 3rd 2012 7:29AM Unfortunately, the answer appears to be the removal of Vampiric Dominance. The level 90 tier now has aoe damage/healing abilities (including Divine Star, which was moved to the 90 tier)

Apr 2nd 2012 7:34PM Discipline also loses Divine Hymn (Holy gets it, Disc just has PW:Barrier). And while Disc loses Rapture, Holy's also losing their increased mana regen from Holy Concetration, and Divine Hymn's heal value is similar to what it'd be without Heavenly Voice.

For my priest, this means that both specs:

Have the same Spell Power (Disc loses Enlightenment (+15% int))
Have the same mana regen
Spells heal for similar amounts (Most for about 25% more then Live, but a few are weaker)

Since a bit of Disc's flavor has been changed to universal talents/glyphs (ie: Power Infusion, Atonement, Archangel), the distinction between the two is less clear at the moment.

Mar 11th 2012 9:14PM To add a wrinkle, during the first part of the Dragonwrath questline, there is a cutscene where the Bronze Dragon sees the world being engulfed in flame. This is essentially a globe-render of the map, but it still has STV at the southern pole.

Mar 9th 2012 7:23AM Plus they're changing the totems (again) - no more buff totems. The only totems in the class list so far without CDs are the two damaging fire totems and healing stream totem.

Spiritual Guidance: Priests, shields and AoE healing in Mists of Pandaria {WoW}

Feb 20th 2012 10:05PM Taking a quick look at precedent, there use to be another Instant-cast PBAoE heal centered around the caster that was recently changed - Paladin's Holy Radiance was originally an instant cast spell that healed targets around the caster (and growing weaker the further away the target was). In 4.3 it was changed to be a cast time spell with its effect centered around the cast-target instead of the caster.

Holy Nova could receive similar spell changes, giving it a cast time similar to Prayer of Healing and heal via "A burst of holy energy heals the target and nearby allies for X" - this could have a target cap like Prayer of Healing/Circle of Healing to keep it tuned the same, or could keep its current design of distributed healing in an area.

It was hinted earlier in Mists development that they were considering making Holy Nova the AoE heal for Disc priests, so this change doesn't really come as a surprise. And its still far too early to know how exactly they plan to implement it as a heal for us; while the tooltip is relatively the same as the current version, they may not have reached the point of changing the spell.

Feb 13th 2012 9:45AM @Mycroft Unfortunately, the same's true for the Quel'Delar sword when transmogging a caster sword with PT. It's very disappointing.

Retribution bug hotfixed, Vengeance temporarily returns to PvP {WoW}

Feb 2nd 2012 5:12PM I don't believe its that farfetched of a connection. The code for figuring out when to trigger the extra damage from Seals of Command and when to apply Vengeance to tanks is likely similar in implementation, as they both trigger ("Proc") off certain events. That certain events can still trigger Vengeance even if an exception for player-generated trigger events is in place indicates that the code behind such must be very clunky indeed.

Better their developers have to look through that mess of code then me.
