Jan 15th 2012 1:01PM I'm with sharpy. The only time I ever really cared about my toon's look was back in BC when the gear was so mismatched it looked like he'd escaped from a circus. Since WotLK, gear is decent-looking enough that it doesn't have to be matched for me to be happy.
Besides - what sort of rogue (my main) goes around in matching boots and belt? This isn't Project Runway, this is Project Stabway, and the last and only thing you're gonna see is my knife as I cut you. So I'm taking the countervailing view on transmog - I don't have to be all matchy-match to gank.
Dec 21st 2011 11:51AM Subtitle to this post could be: "Why World PVP is Fun"
Shoutout to the people who mentioned World Defense... as an engineer I could get to most locations very quickly. I had some oddly epic battles in Hellfire Peninsula where I doubt very much the horde instigators expected to be confronted so soon after they began baiting guards and questgivers. Great for setting up ambushes at one end of the deeprun tram, too.
I used to live for horde raids on IF. Back in the day when city PVP was more common, and there was no flying in Azeroth, IF was a legendary graveyard for confused horde. Whether you came in from the front gates or from the tram, it was easy to take a wrong turn if you were unfamiliar with the city map.
As a rogue who basically lived in IF in his off-hours, I'd usually be there to jump the stragglers in the hallways and defend Magni's chamber. Then after the raid on the king, whether successful or not, people would look for the quiet corners and rooms around the Great Forge to hearthstone out. Except I knew all those corners and rooms, and I would spam a target macro for hostiles, and when I picked up someone fleeing I had 10 seconds or less to determine their likely location, sprint or rocket boot over there, and then defeat my foe. There's nothing better than interrupting a hearthstone at 8+ seconds and knowing that your opponent was probably REALLY surprised, thinking he/she was home free...

And fine, I'll admit it, I am a s-s-s-super fanboi because I love wowcrendor's stuff.
Oct 29th 2011 1:46AM "I want to go to there" - yes, I see what u did thar!
Oct 28th 2011 12:10PM Same here. I'm a rogue and that's all I've ever been. Even when I try to play alts, I find myself reaching for my stealth button.
I'm the sort of rogue who knows his role: I support the team. If I see my healer drawing adds, I'll peel them. If I draw aggro, I'll stop attacking or feint. Dead DPS do no DPS, right? If someone needs to pull the levers or wait at the top of the stairs while Brann gets us deeper into the sh-t, I'm your guy. If I see an ally getting ganked, I'll emerge from the shadows for some stabby-stabby. Someone blowing up LocalDefense by lurking in the Deeprun tram? Send me in, there's nothing better than knowing some fool now has a long corpse run to make. Strike team needed at the lumber mill in AB? Count me in, and win or lose, I'll exit with style, rocket boots + parachute. Back in the day before flying in Azeroth when hunters would get atop IF and send their pets in for mischief, I'd commando up there and put my knives in their backs. There are honorable rogues... at least, if you're on our side.
Oct 16th 2011 1:15PM Yep yep I've been doing that too. A good JC is always preparing for future market opportunities (right, Basil?) Especially since, with the possible exception of the Elemental Goo quest, these JC dailies can be done in 90 seconds or less. :)
Oct 12th 2011 11:27AM ^This. Past experience says this is exactly what would happen. Too bad because it would be a natural item for an Engineer.
Oct 9th 2011 4:31PM I'm one of what seems to be a very small minority who doesn't think highly of transmog. I just don't really pay close attention to what my toon looks like... it doesn't really bother me if my belt is from Firelands and my gloves are from BoT or whatever. My main is a rogue and itemization has always been more important to me than appearance. When I'm stealthed I can barely see what I look like anyway and when I'm humping some massive boss' leg I doubt anyone (including me) can even see if my spaulders match my boots. I also have a bag full of vanity items, quite a number of which reskin you without regard for your gear. This my personal take and I know most others will feel differently, but I for one won't be getting revenge on bosses to get closure over some loot table disappointment that happened a few patches back. :)
