Dec 29th 2011 9:43AM Though I see your point, the simple fact is there is less required of you for the majority of the fights/trash in Cata Heroics. Nearly all the pulls in BC required heavy CC, cool downs, interrupts, etc... as a healer, you would likely have to drink after every trash pull. It would take that much mana to sustain your group, and back then, you could cast lower ranked spells to conserve mana. It wasn't unheard of for a hunter to chain trap or kite a mob around when things got crazy. You couldn't just AOE the whole group. Now days there are a few gimmic trash pulls, but for the most part, you just aoe or single them down if there's only a don't HAVE to interrupt, CC, or anything of the sort.

Not every single pull was like this, and if you were one of the few people who raided heavily and had good gear, I'm sure things weren't this challenging. But it took a lot more time to get gear, and unless you raided or had hours to spend grinding mats for a crafted piece of gear, you were in blues and greens. After some time, I had a group of friends that I ran dungeons with on a regular basis, and though we had developed a rhythm, things could still go wrong and we would wipe.

Dec 29th 2011 9:34AM I miss those days in BC, though it's not to say we're better off. The dungeons felt epic, and as a fairly new player who wasn't raiding yet, they were exciting to me. If you had the time to sit and wait, and make friends to do dungeons with, they were a hard, fun experience. Those were truly heroic dungeons; and the fact that you had to get enough rep to get inside them made them all the more prestigious.

They definitely don't have that heroic feel anymore, and I don't think the name applies anymore...but it has kind of become the namesake for dungeons, so changing it would be just extra work and likely cause confusion.

As a side note, though I wish the new dungeons had that old Magister's Terrace challenge to them, I think for the player base we currently have, they did a fine job tuning the difficulty and making them a little interesting. They all have a simple mechanic or two that you must do (Interrupt Azshara, break through the ghoul circle) without being too complicated for the guy who's in the back autoattacking and watching tv.

Big stakes and the end of an expansion {WoW}

Dec 28th 2011 3:03PM I feel mixed about this patch/expasion. I appreciate your optimism, and it does cause me to reflect on my own feelings and inspires some optimism in myself where I had previously been bitter.

The concepts were great. We finished Deathwing, and saved the world. The 3 new instances were a lot of fun, transmog is fun...but it was kind of depressing to have seen all the raid fights in a span of a few weeks. Now we're working on heroic mode (which has been prolonged a bit due to not raiding during the holidays) but I feel like I really, really have to pace myself or I'm going to be bored of this content fast. It seems like my group is going to get the majority of the HM down and people in my guild will burn out before we finish the last two.

In some respects, I'm glad Blizzard has designed it so I don't feel like I have to log on every day. But I wouldn't complain if we had a few more raid bosses, and some interesting side things to do when we just want to log on and play and do something out of the ordinary and relaxing. I guess that's what MoP promises...we shall see if it delivers.

Dec 26th 2011 1:19PM I managed to get a bunch of those, such as Wrecking Ball by going as a guild + some friends. If you get a group together who are aware that you're trying to earn achievements, they can usually assist in those goals, instead of relying on a bunch of pug PvPers who will do whatever they want, (which often includes not playing as a team, regardless.)

Or at a minimum, grab a pocket healer to keep you alive while you knock your achieves out.

Dec 26th 2011 9:55AM As a female, I've tried just about everything, though the roles I favor most are Shadow Priest/ healing (preferably disc or resto shaman.) I have tanked before, and I wouldn't mind it, except I don't enjoy the gogogo-don't-screw-up pressure from a PuG environment from that perspective as much as I do healing or dpsing. If I had enough practice to raid tank for my guild...might be a possibility, but I'm happy playing my priest.

I've done the breastfeeding-while-raiding thing too. I enjoy multi-tasking.

Dec 16th 2011 2:25PM I think the last boss should have a few extra pieces of loot, something that can be aquired from the previous bosses. I rarely see a flood of people leave after a wipe...I primarily see people leaving after they didn't win the item they wanted. The VP isn't enough of an incentive to encourage people to stick it out. They're running it for gear, and so there should be a gear reward for staying around.

Dec 4th 2011 6:56PM As soon as I saw the ending a few days ago, I wondered why there was so much emphasis put on selecting a new aspect of the Blue throughout the legendary questline...just so Kalecgos could use arcane to alter the dragon soul? And his job is done? It's also strange to me that Kalecgos works so hard to preserve Tarecgosa's spirit.

In addition, if the Titans knew that Deathwing would go crazy, did they also know about Malygos, and that he would be destroyed and replaced?

Oct 17th 2011 11:29PM I have to rebuff PW:F anytime someone dies. Every little bit helps when you're raiding progression. Is the mana cost a huge deal? Maybe not, but it IS something people do.

Aug 21st 2011 10:52AM I thought Milhouse Manastorm was going to be a boss....after all, he just runs away in the stonecore...

It's really disappointing to see all the potential that could have been in this expansion go by the wayside; bosses, raids, content...
