Sep 25th 2011 11:33AM Lava surge ticks. I've had back-to-back procs 3-4 times in a row, and none for 20+ seconds.
T12 2 piece resetting fire elemental. It doesn't always reset in time, and it's a huge DPS loss.
Overload procs and going over the 9 charge limit. You can literally gain 3-4 charges in a couple casts...or none at all.
Wasting charges because you got to 9 charges in a heartbeat and you have less than 5 seconds on flame shock
Fire elemental's AI can be extremely shoddy. Most of the time I have no trouble making him attack what I want, but I've had multiple ragnaros kills where he decides to tune out. The same can be said about searing totem and having to watch him to make sure he's attacking the right target, if attacking at all.
I don't know what you're smoking, but it doesn't matter if other classes have more RNG than us. That's a moot point. We're still reliant on RNG, and it can heavily impact our DPS if it goes the wrong way, which is what matters.
Sep 25th 2011 1:31AM Elemental shamans rely pretty heavily on RNG.
Sep 4th 2011 11:38PM Command doesn't affect Fire elemental totem. Period.
Fire elemental is a guardian, and the guardian of the totem, not the shaman.
Aug 20th 2011 11:03PM Power aura is a huge addon to ahve, and if used correctly it's great.
It's a bit of a learning curve, however on the WoW forums there is an ele guide that gives you a starter power aura
Aug 20th 2011 11:02PM I can't believe I forgot this one but Power Auras is a HUGE addon to have for elemental.
The rotation isn't hard, but tracking everything is.
Aug 20th 2011 11:00PM Recount now shows fire elemental damage for other people's recount now.
Also DBM is much better than GTFO, and a bartender/tukui/dominoes addon is pretty essential too. No reason to clutter up space.
And mini-rant about addons:
Addons are essential to enhancing your performancec, even if some people don't want to use them the default blizzard UI/mechanics is very underwhelming, and it takes a ton of work to bring it up to par to be comparable to a player with addons.
I meet players all the time that say "Only noobs need addons to play" or "I do great without addons" and I find that they do nerfed normal content, and see half of the current content. I've yet to see a player that runs addon-free do heroic raiding content (and succeed). Addons are good. It takes time to work into them, but it is worth it.
Aug 9th 2011 11:08AM Mad? Whose mad? Just because I post bluntly doesn't mean I'm mad, sorry to say.
My points are still easily valid, even if I was raging. Besides what I really find humorous about this particular topic is when people say "be nice, and respectful...don't be an ass" Lol really?
Ok, I'll be nice and respectful to you guys when you be nice and respectful to me. Don't queue up for a heroic, (or whatever it is) when you clearly can't play up to par. I'm not here to carry you.
I already said it, and I'll say it again: I'm not rude to players who can play decently (I'm talking pulling average DPS/heroic geared etc etc). In fact I barely talk in heroics because I run about 15 of them a week. Then I get that 5k DPS player whose trying to learn his class (if that) while in the heroic. No, go sit in front of a DPS dummy, and read a guide. Then queue.
And park...you need not worry about me being rude to you if you can play your role...but judging from your response you can't ;)
Aug 9th 2011 8:21AM I am an asshole depending on the ability of other players. I usually keep quiet during PuG heroics because 90% of my runs go smoothly (or near smooth) and I don't really care enough when little mistakes are made (And yes I do make them too).
Then you get idiots who clearly can't play their class/spec, and should be thankful they're even in the dungeon. You know those morons who don't know their DPS rotation, stack the shit out of PvP gear and don't gem/enchant it? That's when I become your definition of a self-entitled PuG.
No, I don't care about your opinion when you pull 5k DPS
No, I don't care about your opinion when you stack stamina to no end
No, I don't care about your opinion when you go oom in 5 seconds because you have half the spirit you should.
This may be a group game, but it's not a carry retarded group members game. Last ZG I ran the shaman literally ran OOM in under a minute on a fight. I even used my hymn to bring him back up, but he went through it in another 20 seconds. The tank was geared, and the DPS weren't morons. On one pull (the boss bugged out) and it was just him and me (DPS) in the room. So what does he do? Tries to heal both of us and succeeds for like a minute making us take longer.
You think I give a shit that this is a group game at this point in time? Hell no. Be retarded on your own time.
Jul 12th 2011 9:33PM I find that hard to believe, but more to the point this is simcrafting which usually means having better reaction times/playing than humans can do so those #s probably won't reflect for us
Regardless: Really really small DPS differences. I mean at BEST it's almost a 100 dps gain instead. If you really wanna mix/max to the core then go for it but over the course of a 10 minute fight that's around 60,000 more damage. Pretty much trivial since that's where it caps out, on other fights you'll probably see around half that.
As for point two I'm merely pointing out that any discussion towards that two piece should be focused on where we, as players, think we're heading in terms of a PvE permanent pet. There is the kneejerk reaction some players have about the clunky AI. Everyone knows that the fire elemental is a huge DPS bonus over searing (when it attacks the right target) so we should care more about the placement of the tier bonus, and what it may hold in store for us.
Your post about the bonus wasn't bad. I'm just saying.
Jul 12th 2011 5:52PM Just to clear some stuff up here
1) Lightning bolt glyph will never...NEVER be replaced by the lava burst glyph. EVER. It makes up more than half our DPS. For the lava burst glyph to take priority over the lightning bolt glyph lava burst would have to overcome the damage % lightning bolt does. And that will never happen in the current form of elemental shamans.
The UL glyph will be very handy for certain fights, but Firelands isn't as movement intensive as other content has been in the past. Baleroc, Majordomo, and Alysrazor are big no nos for this glyph. The movement is easily taken care of by well timed SWGs. Rag is a big yes. Shannox, Beth, and Ryolith are slightly up in the air, but could be justified. As for heroic content I have no idea yet, and that may change.
2) You're missing the point with the Tier 12 2 piece. The 2 piece bonus is at least a 3k dps increase, and over 4k if you time it well with int pot/procs. This is the biggest DPS increase a set bonus has ever seen, not to mention it's a 2 piece bonus. People may whine about the AI about the fire elemental, but that's also not the point because any player worth their salt knows Blizzard isn't going to balance an ability over the knowledge that an ability bugs out often enough to only be a mediocre buff.
The 4 piece bonus is crap. It's so bad that if our off-set tier was better itemized we wouldn't get it. As someone said above the casting time of LvB is low as it is, so the fact that it's instant is no DPS gain. The only benefit is movement. This plays well with the UL glyph for this content, but there really isn't a whole hell of a lot of movement in my experience so far (6/7 with progression on Rag).
The fact is that many players are thinking that Blizzard is going to give elemental shamans the fire elemental as a permanent pet in the near future.
I've discussed the our bonuses from our tier quite clearly here: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/1869559022 (Starts on Post #11)
