Arcane Brilliance: Magery within the Firelands {WoW}

Jul 23rd 2011 10:20PM "I never learn anything"

That REALLY sums up this column. Just skim over some of the past topics to find the real "gems". An entire column dedicated to saying "you need to be hit capped". One dedicated to explaining the patch notes after GC had posted an explanation of the patch notes. Last weeks was an asinine debate about a topic that did not matter.

I come here in hopes of useful information, not WoW-Rookie style advice with lame "comedic" filler.

Arcane Brilliance: How to be legendary {WoW}

Jun 26th 2011 7:32AM I thought I would post something useful to counter my QQ post.

In 4.2 there are 4 new craftables (2 from tailoring, 2 from blacksmithing) that raiding mages will be interested in.
The recipes for these are speculated to drop from Firelands trash and bosses and are BoP.
The items they create are ilvl 378 and BoE.
The tailoring items are Boots of the Black Flame and Don Tayo's Inferno Mittens (boots and gloves, respectively).
Both of these have 1 red socket[+10 Int] and their secondary stats are hit and crit rating.
Both require 8 Dreamcloth and 4 Living Ember to craft.

Blacksmithing provides the Masterwork Elementium Spellblade and the Masterwork Elementium Deathblade, both ilvl 365 daggers.
The recipes can be bought from Damek Bloombeard at the Molten Front for 300g a piece (but requires you to be at a certain point in the dailies progression).
The Spellblade requires 8 Truegold, an Ocean Sapphire, 2 Jaspers, a Hardened Elementium Bar and 5 Chaos Orbs to craft.
The Deathblade requires 8 Truegold, 2 Ocean Sapphires, 4 Hardened Elementium Bars and 5 Chaos Orbs to craft.
The secondary stats on the Deathblade are hit and crit rating.
The secondary stats on the Spellblade are haste and mastery.
Neither provide any sockets.

As you probably know by now, there is a new hub for daily quests in Mount Hyjal.
After completeing the first few stages, you are presented with an option of 3 quests to choose from.
The rewards you gain access to first depends on the order in which you decide to do them (eventually you can complete them all).
All of the rewards you get from these are ilvl 365 and cost nothing but gold.
The first quest is called Calling the Ancients and allows access to:
-Spirit Fragment Band (caster ring [has no spirit lol] with crit and mastery)
The second quest is Filling the Moonwell and provides:
-Moonwell Chalice (an awesome trinket for arcane mages the provides 340 Int and a use effect of 1700 mastery for 20 seconds on a 2 minute CD)
The third quest is called Additional Armaments and provides:
-Widow's Clutches (gloves with 1 red socket[10 crit] and crit and haste)
-Globe of Moonlight (off-hand with crit and mastery)
There is also a quest that you will complete on the way called Through the Gates of Hell that will provide the Nightweaver's Amulet, an ilvl 365 amulet with haste and mastery.

There is a sepereate questline called Elemental Bonds that provides an ilvl 365 cloak.
The first quest of this series is called The Call of the World Shaman.
The reward you would be interested in is called Mantle of Desire and has haste and mastery as secondary stats.

This was all of the new gear that I could find for the raiding mage minus the Boss drops in the Firelands which are easily looked up.
I hope this information will prove useful to the mage community!
