Breakfast Topic: What do you think about the current Raid Finder loot rules? {WoW}

Feb 24th 2012 2:27PM Reading over the comments, and absorbing the flavor of "LFR shouldn't be used for offspec gearing or normal mode + raider off piece gearing" statements.

How is it any less selfish/exclusive of someone to say that LFR ISN'T for people trying to replace that last piece?

The last time that I checked, Blizzard nerfs raids, buffs classes, and releases several methods of getting similar ilvl gear all for the sake of making normal and heroic raiding MORE ACCESSIBLE. You know, so that its not just the "hardcore" players who can do them?

Yet.....if you have gear, LFR isn't the place for you? Its not meant for you?

I think i missed the Maximum Ilvl cap when I queued this week.....

Feb 24th 2012 2:16PM I sincerely did not mean to come off as wanting to be a "loot god". After reading through the strong responses, it seems that even though I feel like i'm being helpful to *deserving* players, in truth I'm harming many more people, whether they are more or less skilled or not. I suppose that the drop system doesn't look at performance before loot is generated, so i shouldn't look at it that way after loot drops.

However, this makes me thankful that I do raid often outside of LFR, because based on loot distribution alone, I can't really consider LFR raiding. There is NO merit or circumstance consideration, and its disheartening to see the term raiding applied to it. Even in systems where people pass on loot to be "fair", someone who clearly underperforms in a democratic system won't receive the loot over someone who...tried.

I guess free roll pugs don't enforce this either, but its not appreciated when someone not really trying or doing poorly with no efforts to try to improve receives gear that others could use much more. I don't see why LFR is given a free pass in this regard :/

Feb 24th 2012 8:42AM Notice how I said that if everyone is performing relatively the same, that I won't bother to influence the rolls at all.

Fact: I'm going to be top dps on my rogue. Period. Unless there is a 400+ ilvl legendary dagger or staff wielding dps in the group with me, I won't have competition. I do LFR for quick VP, not gear, and i wouldn't take gear from someone that I didn't need, that'd be utterly ridiculous.

However, If number 2 on the meter is doing, say, 30k on ultraxion, and number 3 and lower are capping out at 24k.....I'm going to help number 2 if i can. Why? IF number 2 needs the piece, and they're performing 25% above the NEXT best person, then MAYBE they've earned the loot. If it were any kind of organized guild system, that's how the loot would go.

In 5 mans? RNG isn't such an issue. Your chances at winning an item go from approx 10% if only 2/5 of the group wants it to 20% if EVERYONE wants it. That's why random rolls work for dungeons. But in a 25 man group with absolutely no merit based considerations? Number 2 is going to lose a lot of gear that *I* feel like they shouldn't.

I acknowledge that my stance is going to be unpopular. I have no issue with that. But this is my logic. It isn't an arbitrary jab at the person at the bottom of the meter. Someone has to be. In my personal raid group, there are fights where i'm close to, if not, the bottom dps. But its not a 25% difference, and when I see something like that, that's when I step in.

Feb 24th 2012 8:29AM Gaaah, didn't think my first post would go through, comment system ate it 4 times on my other tag. Downvoting.

Feb 24th 2012 8:25AM I'm probably going to get downvoted into oblivion, which i'm fine with, but honesty is the best policy so......

If everyone is performing at the (relatively) same level, and i don't need an item, i'll pass it or greed it. If, however, there is someone who needs an item, and I don't need it, AND they are significantly outperforming the competition, I roll need on the item if I can.

Why?

Call it a guardian angel mentality :) I don't like to see effort go unrewarded, and so I always try my best to help that person's RNG a little.

Is this an arbitrary manner of deciding who I believe should and shouldn't receive loot? Possibly. Have I lost loot because of someone with my mentality rolling for others? Yes, I have. However, i'm not hypocritical, so it doesn't bother me. I also do my best to be at the top of my game and the top of the pack at all times. I feel like if you perform, you deserve the loot more, and I'll do my best to help that system flourish.

Breakfast Topic: Is silence golden in PUGs? {WoW}

Feb 9th 2012 10:01AM If I have time to talk, and the first pull has happened, and someone's not having a RL situation come up, then we're doing it wrong.

Hi? Sometimes. R? If i'm in stealth near the boss, or pop tricks/MD on you, assume I am. In fact, assume i'm ready unless I say otherwise. That way, if things go wrong, you can blame me legitimately.

No need to be social in PUGS, that's what's my guild is for. I won't tell people not to talk, but I'm a Silent Hero, through and through.

Also, anyone who has any ultimatum of any kind at the beginning of a dungeon gets a /votekick from me. We're adults, or at least old enough to make decisions. If I wanted my mother or father, I'd make a trip to their house, thanks.

Breakfast Topic: What role do you play in your guild? {WoW}

Feb 7th 2012 10:30AM I'm the rogue that you can depend on to be 1. Trolling Trade, 2. Raiding, or 3. Trolling general chat WHILE raiding.

Oh, and i'll be your top damage too, or the "scalpel" for fights that require a lot of damage on one target in return for being low damage on everything else.

So, basically, I'm that guy that gets on your nerves, but you like me anyway :)

Breakfast Topic: Does being overgeared matter? {WoW}

Jan 30th 2012 12:29PM I do a dungeon, I pull 40k+ a boss fight (much more if there are dps gimmicks, see Murozond or Mannoroth), and Pop Vanish/Evasion/Tricks on CD to justify it. I sap the hard hitting mobs if we can't burn them down fast enough, and cleave my way to the top of the charts otherwise.

If my tank can't keep up with my threat, I redirect threat rather than throttle my dps. If that doesn't work, I let them handle it after dropping threat. Dead dps is no dps, and I don't look good dead.

I Pop Feint on all aoe damage and don't stand in bad stuff, so I don't think I make my healers unhappy either. Also, Sub + Recuperate = self heals for days.

I love "overgeared" players in dungeons. There's a high chance they know what they're doing.

The only thing I DON'T like is the 394 hunter pulling 25k, or the tank who casts while getting beat on, making his healer's life hell, because he has awesome gear.

Nothing wrong with making your tanks try to keep threat though, as long as you don't get ANYONE killed doing it ;)

Breakfast Topic: Does being overgeared matter? {WoW}

Jan 30th 2012 11:26AM 25k at 394 ilvl is conservative, my friend :) I was thinking closer to 35k-40k on average for that ilvl, but hey, its a dungeon, it doesn't matter :)
