Jan 12th 2012 4:30PM I add this to not to be nit-picky, but more as a cultural ambassador (and it was only mentioned in passing in the first post):
The Troll Male "dance" is actually drawn from CAPOEIRA, which is a form of martial arts practiced in Brazil. It also made an appearance in the film Ocean's 12. So it's not really a "dance" I guess.
I think the Worgen Male dance would have been cool in a male Turkish style. Youtube "Sultans of the Dance" to get an idea of it.
Jan 12th 2012 1:59AM I'll agree with the requirement that dps should be careful about needing on tank gear, but because of inequities in queue times, I don't believe it should work the other way around:
If I'm tanking and I need that plate dps gear for my dps spec, you bet I'll be needing on it, without remorse or sympathy. Every plate-wearer with a dps spec can off-spec into a tank spec for an insta-queue and almost double his/her gear acquisition rate--and reduce queue times for everybody else by his/her personal increase to the tanking population. It's totally a win-win all around. And a rule that says that "tanks shouldn't roll on dps gear" tends to encourage dps to queue as just dps and not both tank and dps: exactly the opposite of the behavior we want to be encouraging.
I usually enjoy playing the dps spec more than the tank or healer spec. But if I queue as both tank[ or healer] and dps to reduce my (AND YOUR) queue time and the Dungeon Finder chooses me as tank[heals] instead of dps, you bet I'm rolling on that dps gear if my other, preferred spec needs it.
Jan 11th 2012 11:06AM "I wish people would stop acting like selfish brats, who think stuff belongs to them, and that they're the only ones entitled to it :( "
"Need what you need, I say, and let the RNG gods handle the rest." But not acting like a spoiled brat also goes so very, very far in helping a PUG to not devolve into a horrible experience.
Jan 11th 2012 4:13AM I think you may have had a point at the beginning of Cataclysm, but no longer. Queuing up as heals for the new raid finder will cure you of the idea that the design currently puts too much pressure on healers.
Also, with people over-gearing even the new HoT 5-mans now, healing is getting much more stress free. My only fail groups are with the rare occasions where 2 or 3 of the other four people have never done the instance before and their dps or rotations or tanking is just not experienced enough to be able to be covered by the other 2 or 3 good people. I believe you could 4-man these dungeons, in other words, but not yet 3-man them.
Jan 11th 2012 4:01AM Can we also talk about complaining when you lose your roll on gear? I suppose this would apply more to keeping your tanks happy, but it may apply in some situations to healers too (though as a healer, I never roll need on the +hit pieces). Let me just share with you the conversation:
"Hey man! Why did you need on the dps gear?!?"
--"Because my main spec is dps."
"Then queue as a dps!"
--"Um, I did. I queued as both tank and dps."
"Well, it's rude for a tank to roll on dps gear!"
--"But it's not rude for a dps that could have a tank spec to not learn to tank and never queue as such so that all the other dps have to wait that much longer in their dungeon queues?"
If I were ever to win a roll against a "pure" class, then I'd feel bad and give them the loot. But as a tank I never compete on rolls against mages, locks, rogues or hunters--unless I'm running a bear. But then the agility gear I roll on really is "tank gear" for that toon. One drop off of Mannoroth stands out in my memory because a ret pally tried to give me a verbal dressing down when my DK tank won the roll on the Str. 2-hander that drops (the one with Expertise and Mastery, I think) and I wouldn't turn over this "dps" weapon to him. He was NOT getting that weapon from me for two reasons: 1) he obviously wasn't familiar with DK tank stats, and 2) I was upgrading from the i346 blue sword from Heroic Stonecore.
But honestly, I think the biggest whiners I've met in-game have been dps warriors and DK's. And NOTHING makes me more unhappy as a healer/tank than whiners.
Jan 10th 2012 12:43AM Yes, but the REAL question on everyone's mind is this:
If I update to Windows 7 (or whatever the latest is), how will I still be able to play Warcraft: Orcs vs. Humans?
Lucasarts was the first to shaft us all when it wouldn't let us play our SW: TIE Fighter on any of the new operating systems--or didn't tell us how to do a work-around. Don't be that guy, Blizz.
What are we? Some European Social Democracy where when our good old games get too old, they are just left to die by some video game death panel that decides there's no way to let the new OS run the old game. Our good old games of the greatest generation deserve better!
Who's with me?
Jan 5th 2012 3:17PM Someone please explain to me why it took 15 seconds for me to read the phrase "buffs, debuffs, and statuses."?
stat-choo-ses . . . ?
sta-choo-ses . . . ?
sta-two-ses . . . ?
Maybe I've been in court too much recently (dealing with STATUTES).
