Because panda-people are goofy. Kung-Fu Panda doesn't help, but even without the movie, it's still just... goofy.

Cow-People are Minotaurs. Dog-People are Werewolves. Space-Goats don't really have an allegory but are close to common depictions of demons (horns, goat legs, etc). Gnomes, Goblins, Dwarves, Trolls, and Elves are fantasy tropes and come part and parcel of any fantasy game.

Pandarians just don't belong. And putting them in an Asian theme is just facepalm to me. It's like the fat guy cosplaying sailor moon, you're just embarrassed for the guy, even if he doesn't care.

But all that said, I'm still going to give it a try. I have the Pass, so Blizzard pretty much has the beta to convince me that the expansion as a whole has enough to keep me playing wow, or if I should move on (back) to all those games I've been meaning to finish...

Feb 28th 2012 3:44PM The only things I would point out to Kosak is how grindy the Legendary quests are (I suppose they all are, though) and how unbalanced creating Dragonwrath is/was in 10m vs 25m, and compared to the Rogue Daggers. My guild master will have his Daggers before I'll get my staff which I've been collecting since just before the 4.2 nerf. 10-mans only and missing FL raids only recently, since I was having to pug the runs after 4.3 hit and that kind of sucks.

Feb 26th 2012 3:01PM First of all Alien >>>> Aliens. I love them both, but besides them being two completely different styles of movie (horror vs action), Alien is the much better made movie.

Second of all, melee doesn't need another buff if that's what the questioner was intoning. My mage is mid-20s best geared on my server and he still gets out dps'd by enh shaman, dks, (decently geared) paladins and warriors on aoe fights. Any melee that can't at least keep up with ranged needs to seriously re-evaluate their rotation.

Anecdotal evidence is anecdotal, but that's pretty much all non-blizzard people have.

Feb 24th 2012 5:14PM Even though I've never done iron man (so whatever rules there may be), i just finished leveling a new mage, fire/arcane. She hit Hyjal at 80 and had zero problems killing stuff or doing quests. In fact since she was a jewelcrafter, when she hit 76 she got the Hyjal jewelcrafting daily, and while she probably had a 60% hit chance, the elementals still went down without any trouble. Yes, she was in BoAs, but those become just as worthless at 80 as any other non-cata gear (my ilvl at 80 was 116 as I recall).

What I want to see from Mists of Pandaria PvP {WoW}

Feb 14th 2012 9:55AM I think simply making PVP matter would get people more interested. Dark Age of Camelot had a system where you assaulted keeps and towers. If your realm had a certain number keeps you would get certain perks, from more leveling XP, to crafting bonuses, more damage, etc. If your realm had the majority of keeps then you gained access to a max level dungeon. Your guild could also claim a tower or keep and get some perk, though I forget exactly what it was. And your guild could spend points to upgrade defences to make losing your claim more difficult (though you couldn't claim it forever since points were spent hourly based on the level of the upgrade)

This would definately be a world PVP system, and would require far more effort than throwing out a couple new maps. But it would help with realm pride and guild pride. And any kind of PVE bonus would get PVE people playing. Raid Night? OK lets go capture some objectives and get that 5% damage buff.

As a PVE'r, I'd be fine with that as long as that applies to PVP gear in dungeons and raids, too.

I can think of several reasons why that would be a bad idea, but the short of it is that it would severly restrict the number of people who want to PVP. And since Blizzard has said they want more people poing PVP, they're not going to gimp PVE players who want to dip their toes in the pool.

Breakfast Topic: What's the best quest zone in the game? {WoW}

Feb 11th 2012 2:42PM When going for my (alliance) loremaster. I thoroughly enjoyed Darkshore. It was a sampler platter of pretty much the whole game. Naga, Twilight Cult, Old Gods, Elementals, and had cameos of Malfurion and Azshara.

The other one I enjoyed was Feralas. While most of the zone was forgettable it culminated with a fight with Cho'gall himself.

Honorable mentions to Badlands and Eastern Plagelands.

The Queue: Will I get banned for raiding as a ret paladin last night? {WoW}

Feb 2nd 2012 11:30AM Our raid group's prot warrior got a lfr gurthalak last night for his arms spec so we did a guild dungeon to test it out. The ret pally that came with did normal dps, pretty much on par for the group. Later when we found out about the bug i did a few minutes on a practice dummy on my paladin and didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

Seems like either this bug didn't affect everyone, or you have to do something unusual to trigger it.

Feb 1st 2012 10:14AM 2 hour kick timer, yes. after a wipe on zon'ozz that the tank refused to turn him away from the raid.
