Blue Posts and Other WoW News: Intellect plate, MoP talents, more Ulduar style bosses, /brofist {WoW}

Jan 26th 2012 9:52PM Amen, brotha. Best possible solution I can see.

The Queue: Post-Winter Veil recovery {WoW}

Dec 26th 2011 11:12PM Sorry if this has been mention in the 5+ pages of comments I din;t read.

Perhaps making set bonuses require a certain number of gems (similar to meta-gems) or reaching certain thresholds for secondary stats should be required for them to function? I dunno.

Alternatively, make certain abilities have bonus effects dependent on reaching certain thresholds of secondary abilities. I'll use the Holy Paladin spell Holy Shock, as its one I'm familiar with.

Say, for example, at X value of crit, a paladin that achieves a critical effect Holy Shock on a monster will have also result on a critical effect Holy shock heal on the monster's target, or vice versa.

Alternatively, reaching X Mastery value will duplicate the Illuminated Healing effect on the member of the group/raid with the lowest HP.

At a certain level of haste, Holy Shock becomes a HoT/DoT that will "tick" once, essentially duplicating the spell.

Obviously the proper values for these effects would have to be balanced out properly, but I think it would be in interesting way to incentivise certain secondary stats. There needn't be a set of bonus effects for every spell, nor even a way to make every secondary stat interact with the chosen spells. But I would put forward that this is a step toward making itemization less bland.

WoW Moviewatch: Hater Raid Firelands {WoW}

Dec 6th 2011 2:20PM I liked it a great deal more than I thought I would.

As a genre, I think it has a similar appeal as listening to emergency channel scanners does for some people.

Breakfast Topic: Which storyline do you want more of? {WoW}

Nov 28th 2011 9:31AM I want actual Alliance storytelling and development.

Breakfast Topic: What outside things do you associate with WoW? {WoW}

Nov 21st 2011 10:03AM Back during Wrath my favorite song for about a week (which is a transient position) was "Another Heart Calls" by the All American Rejects. So while I was plowing through Icecrown (which, yes, took me about a week because of life and stuff) I had that song more or less on repeat while I was playing WoW. To this day, that zone and that song are intrinsically connected.

Nov 12th 2011 3:07PM Another note: I feel this solution deals with the problem far better than simply tacking us on to gear already in high demand from 2 warrior specs, 2 DK specs and 1 other Paladin spec. Too much competition is just as bad as none.

Nov 12th 2011 3:04PM Alliance affiliated Humans almost exclusively worship the Holy Light. It's kid on why we have a big cathedral to it in Stormwind. Dwarves practice the same beliefs as humans, although some have recently turned to Titan worship, I think. Some Gnome priests follow the Light. Draenei also worship the light, but in a way very much different than Humans and Dwarves. Finally, while most Worgen/Gilneans worshiped the light, some (especially the Druids) may have taken to following Elune, as a result of so many being refugees in Darnassuss.

As to the question of Deities, that would depend on what brand of the Light one follows. For Dwarves and Humans, the Light is more of a philosophy. If you follow the code, the Light will grant you its boon. For the Draenei, on the other hand, Naruu worship is a large component of their belief system. For them, the Naruu are physical manifestations of the Light.

Nov 12th 2011 2:51PM I know the idea has been brought up before (potentially in the 5 pages of comments here) but I'll say it again, for emphasis. I'd really like to see Unholy DK's be re-worked to be ranged caster types, with a necromancy feel to them. Abilities should include control of undead minions, of course, and then also have a number of speels that leech health from an enemy which can be redistributed to the party.

I'm speaking as both an experienced Holy Paladin who wouldn't mind sharing some of my plate gear, and as someone who has tried to make Unholy work for me on a few occasions since Wrath.

Breakfast Topic: What's your character's job? {WoW}

Nov 12th 2011 10:59AM I've never been exorbatantly rich in WoW gold. Never broken 15k. My paladin makes ends meat as a scribe, selling the occasional darkmoon card to someone trying to complete a deck, or by selling fortune cards. On my DK tank, I always list the pets I get from the satchel on the AH. Recently sold an Emerald Whelpling for 10k. He's also a blacksmith, and sells the occasion crafted epic.

Class Balance Q&A: Shaman {WoW}

Nov 9th 2011 6:50PM Not a single Enhancement question up there? I am disappoint.
