Jan 13th 2012 4:29PM After starting hard modes, having tanked all the normal and our first HM, both RLs decided due to roster changes that maybe I should go mainspec DPS (Arms). I certainly do not regret it. There is absolutely no fight in DS where by design the tank skill matters. Look at the HM in let's say BWD, Magmaw, Omnitrom, Maloriak, Chimaeron, Atramedes, Nefarian. Every single one of them, except Atramedes, was extremely pleasant to tank and your skill changed the pace at which the raid progressed on them. Now look at the hard modes in DS and despair, you could put a whatever player with a passing understanding of the mechanics of the fight and he would do it perfectly.

The fact is.. I started raiding as hunter, back in Vanilla. If I changed to tank, it was because I felt that I will hold more responsability on the progress. Probably most tanks made their chose knowing it, and this tier have left them sorely dissapointed. At least in Firelands you had HM Shannox, Beth, Alysrazor and Ragnaros. In DS there is... nothing?

Jan 7th 2012 6:50PM As for tanking, I would focus in the fact that a lot of boss mechanics ignore warrior mastery, leaving it in a bad spot for raid tanking, since the absorbs mastery (dk and druids) does work against those mechanics.

Stomp on Morchok, potent DK self healing that does not trigger Deep Corruption in Yor'shaj, Focused Assault in Hagara and Impale in Madness come to my mind. Paired with better cooldowns in the other bosses (Ultraxion, Zon'ozz namely), tanking Hard Modes as warrior is not as enjoyable as expected when imagining our full CTC sets back in 4.1.
