Mar 7th 2012 4:15PM i really like the way you get items in team fortress 2.
on death you have a chance to receive something(also for completing certain achievements or sets of achievements, like me snagging the razorback for playing by australian rules(single out and dominate an enemy sniper).
so in pvp, you die, release, and you have a chance(and fairly small one at that) of getting a piece of pvp gear. lather/rinse/repeat.
the worse you are/the more you get your butt handed to you, the more likely you are to get upgrade gear.
/when i sucked at TF2 i racked up a lot of random items. now that i'm going entire matches without dying on occasion my drop rate has gone DOWN.
Mar 6th 2012 12:15PM i will take a lot of flak for saying, in public, that EA and BioWare can go EABOD RE: no steam availability, yes?
because they can. and should.
/subscribing to enough horrific DRMs as it is. NOT subscribing to the origin system in all its malware-laden glory just to finish mass effect.
of course i doubt that this post will even make it out of moderation. go figure, get critical about things around here for a few posts...
Mar 2nd 2012 5:47PM pick ten non-raiding guilds that formed after patch 4.1.
there's your ten losers.
the inertia of the guild leveling system has made it so that nobody wants to be in anything other than a level 25 mega-guild.
Mar 2nd 2012 1:29PM i'm all for relegating pvp to its own servers, client, and subscription category.
and i rather enjoy pvp. however, i REALLY hate how my game gets nerfed for the sake of blizzard's mini-game included in WoW. so if they can physically separate pvp and pve completely, i'd support it whole-heartedly and turn to team fortress 2 to get my pvp fix.
Jan 16th 2012 6:35PM think of it this way: when you're only a few hundred feet from the server in a secured area on a private network that is only hooked up to the game server, would you even NEED an authenticator?
Jan 16th 2012 6:04PM try the twitch factor with seeing a troll in blue just waltz into stormwind. went flagged and everything, nobody could touch him. after about ten seconds he just simply vanished.
figure GM coming to deal with a player's issue and forgot to go invisible. whoopsy.
Jan 10th 2012 4:10PM mecha. we're missing giant mecha with cannons and missiles.
on a serious note, i'd love it if engineers could craft epic armor for themselves. a steampunk iron-man so to speak. actually if each profession got an epic weapon/armor that was only usable by the crafter...
but steampunk iron man first.
also: more engineer mounts! like at 20 the engineer can make a vespa. at 40 they make a cafe racer. also jetskis(for water travel) or a transforming go-anywhere mount that requires making all the other mounts and then combining them.
Jan 10th 2012 3:58PM i suppose there should be a modifier that if you're in less than the top-brand gear, you're going to be sub-par.
i tend to quietly seethe with hate when i'm healing a bear who's not wearing at least full vicious crafted, because i have to WORK to keep his furry ass alive, and will sometimes have to sacrifice someone in the tank's name. one should not come within a hair's breadth of passing 20k HPS on a trash pull, with 75% of that spent on the tank. to be fair, those dragons in the obsidian shrine hit like a ton of bricks.
on a boss okay i can kinda get this, but on trash it should never happen.
a blood DK, in full first-rank conquest, can in fact tank if he dumps his secondaries into mastery and what avoidance he can scrounge up. it's far from ideal but it's survivable with a talented healer. it's just a little vigorous.
Jan 10th 2012 12:16PM you and me both brother.
though it'd prolly be better if it were debian-compliant so it'd be accessible by the largest possible slice of the community...
though the distribution compatibility thing is prolly the main reason they're not doing it.
that and the relative minority of the linux users playing WoW IN linux as opposed to off dual boot or virtualbox.
Jan 10th 2012 12:09PM Q for the Queue:
so what's the story with the warcraft movie? last i heard, 'in development', Sam Raimi attached as director, and that's about it.
there been any motion on it, or dead in the water?
willing to share my casting thoughts for reprinting/on general request...
