Dec 16th 2011 8:38AM I disagree with most points. No changes to loot besides more class restrictions and fixing the double win bug.
What the raid finder needs is more incentive to do it. Allow valor cap with just raid finder. Now you have to either run dungeons or do normal mode raids to cap. Allow people to just do the content they like to do.
It also needs fluff items added to it. Achivements for healing, tanking, and dpsing the zones x number of times. Personal achivements for correctly handling all the mechanics. Non combat pets. Costumes that stay put when you mount and enter combat. Stuff like that.
And of course, more difficulty levels. Yes, pug normal mode and heroic modes. Low completion rate is acceptable.
Dec 6th 2011 8:15AM It certainly will. I see 25mans replacing 5s for daily wow group content. Be sure to go back and laugh at all the previous blog posts predicting massive failure for the system. Must feel good to be a blizzard dev right now seeing how so many people predicted that the investment in lfr tech wouldn't be worth it. And it so clearly is now.
Nov 16th 2011 7:19PM Nice writeup, but it does make me laugh. May want to put pug a bit more because the vast majority of groups I've been in on live have a pretty high tolerance for failure.
Its like the author has completely forgotten release heroics and the first month or two of the zuls.
Nice effort, but its like you've completely forgotten what pug raiding was like at its peak in wrath pugging in general on live now. The tool will fail? Laughable.
Oct 3rd 2011 10:55PM Hope it doesn't break reforge mods. Love the automation that reforgelite has. Painless way to get to my soft and hardcaps on the alt army and maintain my other stat priorities.
Oct 2nd 2011 9:26AM Rated BGs following the arena model. No rewards for losing. Higher penalties for afk/botting. Would explode the whole scene in popularity.
Also bring back skirmishes!
Oct 1st 2011 10:56AM Hit ready for the ready check, then say wait frantically over vent when they start the pull count down.
Its how my guild does things, and it hasn't failed yet.
Sep 26th 2011 2:57PM PUG is the best way to get recruits and keep people.
Its not very realistic to expect people to wait around for you to build a core before you start something. That phase can and will last for months, so even if they leave quickly after joining then I don't think its them being impatient. Just realistic.
Your progress won't be smooth and it takes a large amount of work to keep things running smooth on the GM/RL side, but its the only way to get off the ground.
I disagree with points 1 and 3.
Unless they raid at some odd time of day, there is little to no uniqueness to leverage with a small guild mid level guild that's trying to put together a raiding core. That's basically the rule for all guilds now. The mega guilds are the exception.
Steer clear from the alliance way of going about things. Been burned too many times with arraignments like those. They either poach your raiders or you end up poaching theirs. Either way someone ends up looking like a jerk. And mergers hardly ever go smoothly cause I always end up with a situation similar to a guild just poaching players. Some of your guildies will raid, and the others land on permanent bench. Pretty hard to swallow a situation where you spend all that time and effort getting a good player to join up with you just to see them get nearly permanently sat cause the merged guild now has too many of their class.
Sep 17th 2011 9:41PM Anyone tried out hyjal? The add fights and trash waves have got me worried and haven't even attempted them yet.
Sep 14th 2011 8:36AM No point in dodging them. If they want to go, teach them to be better. If they don't want to learn, tell them flat out why you don't want to run with them and continue on. Easiest way to get good minimum output from guildies is to have them download a mod called Ovale Spell Priority from curse. Now there should be no issue with having them doing super low dps and you can take whoever's available.
