Dec 29th 2011 3:51PM You are a very good writer, however, the Balance Druid community deserves to be reading material from druids on the cutting edge of content, so their experiences can be read by Druids before they begin attempting that content. You write this week about what a Balance Druid should be doing on Normal Mode Madness, yet you have not yet recorded a kill on this fight yet. How are we to know you haven't gotten past the 2nd platform and have any clue to what you are talking about?
This is not supposed to be a major flame post, just my opinion that someone who writes a weekly article focusing around Balance Druid and their interactions in PvE content, should be further progressed then 7/8 normal modes, and able to talk about say how very, very bad Balance Druid's are on the Heroic Spine of Deathwing encounter.
Dec 3rd 2011 4:25PM I am pretty sure you meant the Cunning of the Cruel trinket, instead of the Seal of the Seven Signs. The latter is a haste proc from healing spells only and the former is the trinket with the shadowbolt volley on all targets in range.
Nov 26th 2011 1:17AM This mostly doesn't matter unless you don't raid with a Shadowpriest or Shaman. It will hurt in pvp, mainly arena if you don't have one of those two on your team.
Nov 25th 2011 3:07PM Starfire actually has a base cast time of 3.2 seconds (talented down to 2.7). So the MoP talent list has Starfire with Starlight Wrath baked in, and Wrath without Starlight Wrath baked in. I am fairly certain that this is simply a tooltip error on the Wrath side. Increasing Wrath's cast time means you would have to increase the energy gain and just make the two Eclipses seem that much more similar. I can't think of any reason why they would want a longer Wrath cast time.
The new Insect Swarm combined with Lunar Shower makes me think competing in multi target situations will be very difficult. But I guess that all depends on how Shadow Priest and Warlock multi dotting was changed.
I am also of the opinion as your last paragraph states, there is no point in complaining at this early stage. If you druids want something to complain about, you should probably complain about the absolutely awful T13 4pc bonus to be released next week. Entirely unacceptable that the bonus went live in my eyes when you compare it mathematically to the other DPS 4 pc bonuses.
Nov 12th 2011 2:58AM I definitely agree that the last tier is a bit of a head-scratcher. MSS especially makes no sense, they have to know that forcing a feral cat or moonkin to waste a GCD on shapeshifting after every 3 attacks is ludicrous. The only thing I can think of is it gives Resto druids a non-mana eating way to do some damage if Tree form is down, if there is a current lack of raid damage.
I had a slightly different view on HotW as you did. 45 second duration and 6min CD definitely needs to be cut in half on both accounts, but I looked at it as finally a way to move our Eclipse bar without having to actually be in combat, or hit things. Most bosses have set percentages when reached, trigger a new event in the fight. Often this means the raid will stop DPS to game when they reach this percentage. With this talent we can heal the raid, while moving the Eclipse bar to the point we want for the upcoming phase.
I can't be certain how it works obviously, perhaps it only generates energy if you are outside of Eclipse, and if you are in Lunar and wish to get to Solar you are out of luck. But perhaps each tick of a Rejuve will generate Energy? Throw a Rejuve while moving and we can get a steady flow of energy every time it ticks. Perhaps it generates more energy based on the amount healed, in which case a Renewal or NS Healing Touch, both of which will be usable in Moonkin form, can be used with HotW to generate an instant amount of energy, kind of like the get me into Eclipse now CD I have been wanting for a long time.
We will have to wait and see.
