Mar 16th 2012 3:18PM Throughout ICC myself and an IRL friend co-tanked while sat next to eachother. It worked hugely well, as communication was easy and could be done outside of vent, so we could set up complicated methods of beating certain mechanics. This continued into tier 11, and was really effective. Sometimes the raid leader would be miffed at us not discussing the tank stuff with us, but was usually impressed when, in his eyes by magic, the tanks would excecute complex manouvers with no communication.

After a few months, we told him we were sitting next to each other. The magic died for him :(

Mar 13th 2012 2:33PM Agreed. He specified hes a healer. Hes also a priest, so in all likelyhood he will have a holy/disc os/ms, since he never ever mentioned shadow. All you need bound for keys is anything you cant be bothered to bind to a mouse, so cooldowns and, as previously mentioned, smite and holy fire.

Theres really no need for more than 1 action bar as a healer, if you have something to track your various CD's on stuff like holy shock or riptide.

I personally like the side bar for mounts and stuff too, thats similar to mine, 1 bar for CD's and a few basic attacks, and one for buffs and mounts. The rest is click-bound.

Mar 12th 2012 1:18PM Quick point. GoAK doesnt trigger off LoD. You'd be better rolling out DL's tied in with LoD's if you want really huge HPS from the new holy avenger. Obviously you can use WoG too, if it really is only single target heals you need, but since the new cooldown doesnt actually get rid of the actual guardian, I'd be sorely tempted on some encounters to use all the LoD's first, to use all the 3HP dumps, then use 5x DL to drop some bombs onto the tank.

All of this obviously is dependant per encounter, since sometimes you will just want 5x WoG, for instant-big-free-heals.

Is PvP gear good enough for heroics? {WoW}

Mar 5th 2012 4:31PM Or just add tanking pvp gear, with the new power stats on it etc. A lot of BG's require(or are easier with) atleast one tank, and since tanks in MoP will be able to exert some serious control over their own health and survivability, along with more utility and CC than some dps, it is plausible that they could make forays into some 3's or 5's comps. Realistically, since they have spirit on some caster gear, its harsh not to have at least some items available with dodge/parry, and a changed stam/str ratio. With the new defensive power stat, these could be ramped way towards the defensive end, making tanks very very tankish in pvp (difficult to kill, but little sustained output) while still maintaining sensible levels of gear level for PvE.

That, or make tanks less susceptible to relying on secondary stats. At the moment, as a paladin tank, in my pvp gear I eschew everything for mastery, including stam trinkets and sometimes maybe even resilience, as block simply stacks better. This reliance on secondary stats is silly. Since stamina is no longer really king for providing EH, and strength does provide parry, but a pretty measly quantity, not nearly enough to make me stack it, im in the unusual position that a secondary (worse) stat actually sims as better than a primary (supposedly good) one.

Bring back defense, make it a primary stat, get rid of str from my gear. With the changes to vengeance and the threat nerf's, I dont think my measly AP is making much difference. Or just scale up our coefficients to adjust for it. Or make str provide proper quantities of parry/block. Just make it so im not stacking one, boring, secondary stat, wherupon its better for me to take an item with dodge/mastery over an item with hit/parry, even if its a whole tier below.

Feb 29th 2012 8:49AM actually, looking at all the uses for the druid at least, theres a 100% straight up best option for feral, guard, and balance, if your talking dps wise at the very least. Resto, I'd argue that hand of sacrifice isnt utility either, its a healing cooldown. At least, it is for paladins with passive selfheals. Because, for any fights with a target switch, what feral in their right mind ISNT going to take soul swap, realistically, for the dps boost of moving your dots. Same story with guards, threat from lolsecrate without using rage which can be conserved for defensive uses, and boomkins will want mirror images, again for the dps use. This looks infact to provide druid with some fairly potent cooldowns if used correctly (and people will theorycraft out the correct ones quickly, I garuntee it). Then again, I guess you could need an iceblock? as resto? really? I know raiding isnt everything, but the only use of that is to hope the boss despawns and the druid can rez everyone. Which isnt really utility, since their needs to be a mage anyways, who could do the same thing....


Overall, cool talent, worth having, definitely, but not utility. This bad boy is a powerful raid buff.

Feb 29th 2012 8:39AM If guardians are getting consecrate, they'll all be sticking it on paladins for dungeons/trash at the very least. Its gonna be back on a 9sec CD to make up for our elongated CS CD, which should buff up guardian aoe a little bit. Good to see that theyre acknowleding that spamming trash and swipe with mauls/lacerates tabbed in isnt so much fun.

How to carry the flag in Warsong Gulch {WoW}

Jan 27th 2012 5:31AM We queue for WSG as premade and have our own rather entertaining tactic:

1. Step One, check your premade has both silly dps and good healing. PvE weapons are preferable, as nothing much is gonna trouble you. You'll want a decent mix of ranged and melee, no tanks, and a few healers.

2. The zerg. Wait, dont do it. Stay in your room till you've killed 4/5 of em. Then send a small squad.This should be a holydin/resto shaman along with a rogue. Grab that baby and sprint it back. Do not die.

3. Cap the flag, then chill. Kill any and all incomers to your room. I find having a few dk's and a paladin or two allows for some particularly heavy fun with ranged on the balcony, deathgrip them down then stun.

Fight on the flag spot at this point, any cleaves will destealth rogues. Protect your healers.

4. When they try a push (and they will) send out the rogue again to steal their flag. Maybe send a healer, doesnt matter as much since they should be occupied. This tactic works well enough as PuG's never ever bother to come into a room all at the same time, its more over the course of 30 seconds or so, which means it will realistically be 9v3 the whole time.

5. Win, and laugh.

Jan 25th 2012 10:06AM Yeah piping up as an english guy, who smokes, I can safely say that I call BRB fag into chat, vent, wherever, and everyone knows what I mean. I guess over in the states, maybe its more of an issue. But then again, in the UK, I dont know if being called gay is that much of an insult any more....

Breakfast Topic: How often do you switch specs? {WoW}

Jan 11th 2012 9:43AM My characters all switch spec a few times a day I'd guess..... My main is holy/prot, both above ilevel 386, though I do prefer holy. This gets respecced for ret every so often, or more likely the prot gets dumped for a second holy spec for PvP. My alts are similar, though they tend to have a mainspec then a PvP variant of said spec, and I switch between those fairly regularly. I'd have to guess I've switched spec thousands of times...
