Mar 21st 2012 6:50PM I'm still waiting for MMO developers to hire and use an economy advisor to handle such problems instead of trying to wing it.
Just like they started to hire dedicated story tellers and people to manage lore and how it's integrated, I think it's time the game's economy gets a little attention and we see more refined financial system of balancing economy. Crude solutions like currency-sinks and currency-caps are about as far along as a game programmer understand money.
We need more. A bad economy hurts everyone and many games suffer from it far more than people think. And the thing is, an MMO's virtual economy is fertile ground to implement new and ground-breaking tools to keep everyone happy.
The next thing on my list for stuff MMOs need is an expert in sociology. Community management of over 1 million players is something that should be handled by sociologists instead of PR spin-doctors.
Mar 21st 2012 8:04AM Bring it on!
I will have to wait a while because I started WoW in Cata and registered pretty late for the annual pass but at least I will get in. Just hope it's before 15th May.
Mar 20th 2012 5:04PM I don't know why they don't follow WoW's unlimited free trial. It should work much better with ToR especially since there is only one game to buy to get the full experience, instead of a bundle like WoW.
Mar 19th 2012 2:17PM Wowkemon! With all the rep grinds there are in the game it's strange that a personal player rating doesn't exist. It's more important what an NPC thinks of you than the people playing with you. It's far too easy to be a jerk in Wow today. I know because I am one
Mar 16th 2012 6:09PM I just hope they do it justice and make all the zones available, instead of only giving us one at a time. I just want to see the giant tree cities of the Bosmer and the towns of the Khajiiti up-close.
Mar 13th 2012 7:09PM Nerf DKs?
On a more serious note, I wonder what other classes can do this? I mean besides the obvious Druids and Paladins with their 4/3 specs. Shamans? Hunters? Warriors? Or none of the above?
Mar 13th 2012 7:03PM Do not want.
Maybe this is in response to WoW's SoR.
Mar 12th 2012 7:44PM I just wish we could get reforge profiles, so when I respec and use some or all the gear from one spec to the other, I can reforge with one button and not go to wowreforge and figure out what I was using before.
On the whole topic, reforging is just extra math added to the game. MMOs have been getting very complicated lately, so much so that for a new player to the genre it's a daunting process trying to figure everything out. For example when I started out, rather recently, I had to figure out gems, enchants, specs, pets for my hunter, specs for pets, rotation, reforging, learning each fight and pull, getting a plethora of addons installed, setting up keybinds, macros and probably a few more bits that I cannot remember of the top of my head. If you add all those up, it's a lot to take in, even for a Vanilla/BC player, let alone for a completely new player.
WoW is a big game and playing it at a competitive level takes a lot of effort, maybe more than some college courses or medium paying jobs.
Mar 12th 2012 4:31PM All I can tell you for sure is that the best healer I've played with was a female. As a side note, the best shadow priest I know is a female also. Haven't seen any guy, including myself, being able to squeeze as much dps out of 3 dots as she could.
Mar 10th 2012 6:03AM Does Torchlight 2 even have PvP? The first one didn't have it.
