Korean guild KIN Raiders scores world-first heroic Madness of Deathwing {WoW}

Dec 21st 2011 7:56AM As an Asian myself, there's some pride there...but want to see an American team get the world first.

Come on guys, next raid let's see the USA shine!

Blue Posts and Other WoW News: No druid gear displayed in feral/moonkin form, no fourth spec for other classes {WoW}

Dec 20th 2011 6:04AM What we need is to move away from the specs itself, as that's what is locking us into limited roles.

All these new MMOs (and RPGs) are experimenting with it, and each passing year players are getting more interesting options. Personally, enjoying the Skyrim speciality talenting, as it's so open ended and gives more freedom to do what you want to do (e.g., if you prefer fighting with handaxes instead of maces, specialize in handaxes -- no class weapon/role limitations -- be that Holy paladin that can tank and DPS!).

Once WoW breaks free of the class limitations, the whole "pure" vs "hybrid" debate will end, too.

Dec 19th 2011 10:21PM Liking this idea as well.

Getting partial to my Boomy's moonkin form (have other toons to play gear dress up with anyway), so would like to preserve his big feathery self, it's so uniquely WoW. But a change of color of the feathers (not just a dull bluish purple) would be nice.

Also would be nice if eventually we have to glyph to keep the form, that we don't lose a minor glyph slot, too. undergoing emergency maintenance {WoW}

Dec 14th 2011 6:11PM Was knocked off right at 6pm. So much for those logged on can stay online. -_-

It's also showing 3:00pm EST (6pm EST) at the login.

Raid Finder items reclassified for intended classes {WoW}

Dec 14th 2011 7:24AM This isn't about cookie cutter builds, this is about getting gear that suits your sub-class.

There's primary and secondary stats that a sub-class needs, and usually those are on gear for the sub-class.

Experimenting can be done by reforging if necessary; or trying to find a BoE item with the stats (e.g., AGI to cap some extra crit when maxed on about every other stat).

Raid Finder items reclassified for intended classes {WoW}

Dec 14th 2011 7:17AM Why to wait awhile so they fix those things to save on frustration. It's a new system, and one with m-a-n-y problems.

Items are still class based, so that means basically the same LFD problem of a tank rolling on DPS gear still exists.

It's the need on OS gear that remains the problem. Remove that need, and loot issues are done (and runs go m-u-c-h faster too).

"First its not like a ban does anything, its a forum ban."

Point is they're asking for "constructive feedback" while hamfisting the thread. The thread wasn't even a flame-a-thon. Folks were discussing at first the problems of enticing players into PvP (like I was), then all of sudden we get folks in talking about the talents. It's when the talent folks came in is when the Blues did (now you know this was for GC).

It was the Blues interceding h-e-a-v-i-l-y on an otherwise typical General thread that was foreign. They were fishing very hard for ideas, but it was THE BLUE that was spamming and trolling. Look at Neth's tone and compare it to mine, even (imagine if CS talked to you in that tone, and your reaction would be). They were trying to control the message hard, in a forum that trolling is an art form. But they ban folks who were on topic, and discussing the OPs post!

This is exactly how the pre 4.0.1 threads became, and because Blues like GC was active in them. My reaction to Neth's post was from watching the same song and dance here...

It's that type of arrogance that caused the royal rift that occurred with SOE and the players. Blizzard, with their own arrogance, is going down the same avenue. They're banning folks from posting to stop those disagreeing with their view. Just how SOE did it.

As soon as you address the Blue, especially on fishing expeditions, they will just flick some "spamming/trolling" nonsense as an excuse to eliminate YOUR opinion. Which is your feedback, and mostly it is constructive. Their idea of constructive is if you pepper your posts with "I love you" like some fanboi, not when it's to the point without the fluff. Blizzard wants a community discussion that's one sided.

That's what is wrong. You can't get *true* feedback in a vacuum. That's how and why Cata failed, too. We were warning Blizzard pre 4.0.1 of the problems and they didn't WANT to listen, they banned, banned, banned, instead. They're doing the same thing, again.

You can still post on the forums even if you cancelled, because you're entitled to play until your subscription runs out. Some pay monthly, others quarterly, and some even annually.

The point is forums are for feedback (not the fluff normally seen and endorsed on General [as it's not deleted, and especially in less than 5 minutes] -- like those troll threads [e.g., "I ate today..."] that litters the forum). His feedback was about the simplification of the talent system to save costs. He can use the 4.0.1 Holy paladin thread I posted as evidence (GC specifically said they no longer want to hand tune a raid for specific sub-classes. That's an indication of the time needed [and expense] to do so).

Blizzard just being arrogant. With the type of market they cater too (kids) it's more likely the same market isn't interested in contesting the changes. Unlike EQ2 players who are much older and have resources to even fight SOE face on. They're playing their cards, and hoping for no EQ2 style backlashes.

My suspicion they are simplifying the talent system to XBox the game to increase the revenue stream (also to tie into their other games like CoD...the vehicle fights Blizzard pushed hard in WotLK eludes to that). It fits the pattern of Blizzard to expand it's market share. As the older players leave the game they must be replaced. Kids now are more inclined to have a console, too. The rest of the RPGs and MMOs are expanding talent choices, in contrast (which, IMO, is the correct direction as RPGers prefer character customization, for after all, it's a Role Playing Game), and sticking to the PC market. If you seen the poll on the RIFT forum of the age of the players there, most are in their 30s and 40s. The market used to more spreadsheet style customization. Blizzard wants a new generation of fanbois, a generation that did not play the original WC series. That generation is plugged into consoles and it's simplistic play style.

Dec 10th 2011 7:35PM "Generalities of "this doesn't work, this looks awful, there's no utility there" aren't helpful. We need specific examples."

Can't get specific examples if you're stuck on this...

"This is not what was said at all. You're completely twisting things to apply to your thoughts and opinion. No one is getting these options at anyone else's expense and if it seems that way to you, then you're not looking at the whole picture."

See? Now how where the banned players any different in their replies in tone and manner? How can there be "constructive feedback" if the line is drawn like that? Make players defensive, expect defensive replies.

"No one is "pushing recklessly". "

Ban players is pushing them to quit from the game. And that 1.7 million can just continue the bleed. Ask SOE about what happens when you push players out with bans.

Now who's reckless?

Dec 10th 2011 7:20PM They're data mining ideas.

When they're really on a ban roll, they're trying to look for specific data. They're zoning in on something, but it's pretty one sided (this is evident because they allow true trolling and spamming to fill General 24/7. Only specific threads are cleared).

Ghostcrawler doesn't post on the forums (he put up a list of demands earlier on the blog of specific conditions if he post again -- and I flat out told him he doesn't need to ransom like that). Apparently Neth was the go between for GC, and like GC's banning style, was clearing the field of the "trash".

GC wants things orderly and tabulated. Our humanity doesn't fit into the equation. Feelings complicate the math, and guinea pigs are subjects that are even sacrificed.

I'm leaving with my three accounts as well (MoP is the prime factor). What's the point in staying when you can't even try to like the game, without sacrificing your individuality? I'm no mindless fanboi.
