Jan 14th 2012 9:45AM Amen!
Jan 14th 2012 9:10AM I'm sort of a split personality, I guess. When I create a character, I have a whole back-story thought out in my head for who he is; where he comes from; his family history; what his goals are; likes and dislikes; etc. But when I am actually playing, I think in terms of "I". "I'm over here". "I better run". "I wailed on that mob". "I just got pwned". "I'm gonna smash that hunter". I get absorbed in vicariously being the character. It's part of the fun for me, to immerse myself in the character's adventures, as opposed to just thinking about leveling, gear, loot, etc. And btw, I play on a PvP server (Burning Blade - US, Horde), not RP.
Jan 13th 2012 6:27PM Just a quick note: Don't forget the easy daily PvP quests you can knock out in the Grizzly Hills - "Smoke 'Em Out", etc. - all in the same spot. They only take a few minutes, and you can grab 200 honor (220 if you have the guild bonus) a day. And there's one another just up the river a minute or so for another 50 (55) too. Every little bit helps!
Jan 12th 2012 6:31PM This literally gave me a lump in my throat. Major props to ALL you Die Safe folks, especially Ben and Owen. You all are what WOW is about for me - spending my leisure time with really good people.
Jan 12th 2012 6:13PM You're a considerate player. I'd venture that's you in the real world too. Props. I'm the same way when I pug. In low level 5 mans, if I can't use it for my main specc or off specc, I usually just pass. I can always farm with my main if I need gold, and by passing, someone who actually needs it or the gold for vendoring/DEing it can win without me competeing. If it's a piece I can use for the specc I'm NOT running the dungeon in, then I roll greed. I only roll need if that character can actually use it in his CURRENT specc. And a lot of times, at the end of the run, if it looks like someone in the group got dissed by the RNG gods and I did well, I'll whisper offer them some or even all of what I won. Sure, I know I lose out out on loot to people who aren't as courteous; are loot ninjas; or are just plain old greedy asshats. But you know what? I don't care. Karma. Those types are the ones with an empty friends list. :)
Jan 11th 2012 6:27PM LOL! Yes, I actually LOL'd when I read your comment. :P
Jan 11th 2012 5:57PM Your ideas seem spot-on to me. Was your "Homeschool" Harvard, by any chance? :P I'd SERIOUSLY rather have much more active game play to worry about rather than the math of gearing to perfection then being a meat shield and and spamming DS. My DK CAN think, after all (or at least I can think for him).
Jan 11th 2012 11:55AM My main is a Belf pally, with the exact opposite problem. When he's specced holy, I've got plenty of manna to self heal and soloing quests (even the "3 player minimum recommended" ones) is a breeze. But I SUCK at group healing! If I have to heal, we're GONNA wipe. LOL! :P. But specced ret, I'm usually at or near the top of the group in DPS. Go figure.
Jan 11th 2012 11:31AM You're not alone... spent many a night chuckling on my way to bed after the show. None of the current crop come close to Johnny, IMHO.
