Mar 18th 2012 9:20PM I've played Alliance for pretty much my whole WoW life, but after I read this KYL last week, I rolled an undead warrior so I could experience Silverpine and Hillsbrad. SO MUCH LOVE. After playing through Gilneas on the Ally side, it was so, so cool to return from the Horde side and see the conclusion of the story.
But the majority of my love is reserved for "Welcome to the Machine" in Hillsbrad and Kingslayer Orkus and his faithful mount Kasha. I laughed until I cried, and later I just cried.
Anyway, thanks, Anne, for the fantastic article!
Feb 12th 2012 9:03PM I love the revamped Eastern Plaguelands, with the caravan and its characters, who you basically travel around with (and quest with) through the zone. I agree with Olivia about quest layout, and the new EPL definitely fulfills that requirement now -- SO much easier than riding the length of the zone to turn in every quest at Light's Hope!
I also have a soft spot for Darkshore -- it's one of those zones in which you really feel the effects of the cataclysm. I'll never forget the first time I had to search the coast for the bodies of NPCs that I had interacted with in Auberdine, or when Azshara shows up at the end. Sad and chilling, respectively.
Feb 9th 2012 12:23PM Seconded! Loved the article!
Feb 8th 2012 8:33PM I've actually been in the same guild since the beginning -- going on seven years!
Feb 3rd 2012 12:20PM My father and brother both played Warcraft 1, 2, and 3, and my mother got them both vanilla WoW the Christmas after it was released. That January, I vividly remember visiting my parents and sitting next to my dad at the computer as he took his warrior in Duskwood for the first time. I asked so many questions ("why's that wolf chasing you?" "who's that guy on the side of the road?" "what's with all the exclamation marks?") and was clearly so fascinated that my dad offered to let me start a character on his account.
Seven years, my own account, and ten-plus alts later...
Jan 26th 2012 12:38PM A guildie and I PUGged End Time a few weeks ago and got Jaina as the first Echo boss. Everyone's phased in, and the other DPS accidentally backs into one of the mobs. Whatever, it happens. But the tank just stands there LOLing as first the DPS, then the healer, then my guildie and I, then HE dies.
Healer says, "Tank, why didn't you jump in there?"
Tank: "LOL, sorry."
So we come back in, get buffed, and it happens again, only this time the TANK draws the mob and just stands there getting whaled on.
Healer says, "WTF, tank?"
Healer: "Dude, the hunter and the mage have more health than you. You're not even wearing tank gear. Drop the group, please, so we can grab another tank."
In the meantime, we've all phased back in (again) and buffed up, and the tank pulls ANOTHER mob and just stands there as we die (again).
Healer: "Kick the tank, please."
Tank: "Y U SO MAD, BRO?"
My guildie and I were furious until he said that, and then we laughed so hard we nearly fell out of our chairs... after we kicked the tank, of course. Now "Y U SO MAD, BRO?" is our go-to expression.
Jan 25th 2012 1:31PM I agree -- I LOVE Gidwin and Tarenar and their quest to become paladins of the Argent Crusade! Their dialogue as you ride the caravan from tower to tower is adorable, and I've always been sucker for cross-faction friendships (shout-out to Anren Shadowseeker and Tholo Whitehoof!).
