Profanity filters, homophobic slurs, and Blizzard's shaky relationship with the LGBT community {WoW}

Jan 25th 2012 9:29AM I just want to say to those who want to claim that fag and faggot have origins and uses outside the US in a "better" context.

The reason Faggot and Fag became derogatory in the first place was because they would burn gay people at the stake. It was the legal punishment before they started to just jail us or lock us in insane asylums.

Basically when you are calling someone a fag you are saying they deserve to be burned. As in a fire..

Profanity filters, homophobic slurs, and Blizzard's shaky relationship with the LGBT community {WoW}

Jan 25th 2012 9:21AM Yes, Faggot in British terms was used to signify a bundle of sticks.. which is why it was used against homosexuals.. And they use to burn gay people as a legal action which is how the term began to be applied to gay people. Burning Faggots was a common practice up until the late 19th century when they began to just put us in jail, beat us, torture us or place us in asylums.
