Why is Blizzard still OK with gender inequality in World of Warcraft? {WoW}

Apr 3rd 2012 10:09PM The player base is always going to have the people that pay more attention to girls... thought it's not always exactly sexism against girls. I'm a girl who plays mainly guy characters, for a variety of reasons. But recently I've taken to leveling a female mage. And suddenly people are engaging me in conversation - yes, some of it's bizarre flirting, but some of it's just conversation. Including from other girls. Because you put that girl skin on and you are clearly more social! I think I had someone try to strike up a conversation with my guys chars in a dungeon... never, actually. My female? If I show even an inkling of interest in the conversation there's suddenly a torrent of words. Women are seen as more social - and guys clearly don't want to talk ever.

Blizzard does need to make improvements with how they treat their females, but I'm not sure Ji Firepaw is what needs to be changed. How about having, I don't know, a major hero from lore that's female... actually be important? I mean, every expansion past vanilla we've had someone from WC III as a major player - bad guys in BC but still -you knew them. You saw them, everyone interacted with them... And I think we may have had this tiny little expansion named after some corrupt paladin guys, name begins with an A...

So... Maybe Cataclysm will have a female character in a major place. But while there are some tantalizing hints about Jaina... mostly I hear about... Varian. Thrall. Garrosh. Seriously? Sylvanas is a major player. Give her a main spotlight! I love Thrall! Varian has tons of potential, and yes I'm sure the plot with Garrosh will be great! But can we have a main female that gets a main spotlight and doesn't shut up the moment her guy comes into the picture? It doesn't even have to be an old lore character! I'm sure there's a strong female character from a previous expansion that we haven't dropped like a hot potato, right? ...Right?

Breakfast Topic: Do you like PvP? {WoW}

Apr 3rd 2012 9:35AM Ugh, PvP. My hatred of PvP dates all the way back to playing on with Starcraft and Warcraft II. At least with WoW you can choose a server where you're not forced in to it, there people could turn PvE maps into PvP just by turning off the alliance regardless of what anyone else in the game could do. So yeah, there's always been a bad taste in my mouth regarding PvP.. But, while I'm aware from having a friend who loves it that not everyone in PvP is a complete and utter insensitive aggressive jerk, they're the loudest and, frankly, there is nothing about PvP appealing enough to make me put up with that.

Breakfast Topic: How would you redesign the old character models? {WoW}

Mar 29th 2012 8:55AM ...People actually say this about the human females? What? The model doesn't even glance at being overweight. What is wrong with people?

The Queue: Ask the beta testers {WoW}

Mar 22nd 2012 11:31AM Cloud serpents aren't a racial mount, they're a mount available through daily quests for everyone. I saw information that it would be some type of turtle but I don't have a link handy.

Mists of Pandaria: Siege of Orgrimmar {WoW}

Mar 19th 2012 12:16PM Why would she want to take over the Horde? Seems to me she doesn't care that much about the other races of the Horde, unless they all have suddenly decide they'd like to be undead.

Breakfast Topic: What's your one wish for Mists of Pandaria? {WoW}

Mar 16th 2012 11:18AM I wish Lor'themar Theron would have lines. He doesn't even need a major role. Just some acknowledgement of his existence would be nice.

Breakfast Topic: What's the best quest zone in the game? {WoW}

Feb 11th 2012 11:37AM I have two, because I can't decide between them. Felwood, I'll admit, has a lot to do with the demon hunter quests where the druids are all so outraged and then he essentially calls you a fool and pulls you into an interactive history lessons. Also, the dryad. I love that dryad.

The second is one many have mentioned - Stonetalon Mountains. The first time I played through that, I thought it was going to break my love of the Horde. They've always been my favorites - and until I got to that very last part of the last quest, I was quite sure I was never going to be able to do Horde quests again. *laugh* Yet, I couldn't stop until I'd seen the end. And it so proved me wrong.
