Mar 17th 2009 3:07PM 14 bosses is a lot? Last I checked Naxxramas had 15.
Mar 11th 2009 1:23PM PROC = Percentage Rate of Chance. I thought everyone knew this already.
For example, someone might say, "this trinket has a 15% proc", which means it has a chance to trigger another effect, and this chance is 15 percent.
Dec 19th 2008 4:58PM Actually, precise formulas for all the stat contributions have been known for some time now. It's not a "nobody knows what happens behind the scenes" thing. Check out the detailed description of the RatingBuster addon for all the relevant formulas and charts, if you want to know about diminshing returns.
Dec 19th 2008 2:49PM Focusing on defense above all else is probably the #1 failing I see in bad tanks. Can't tell you how many heroics I've been to where the tank says, "but i have 536 defense, why do i suck?"
Keep in mind, it's quite possible to tank heroics with less than 535 defense, if the tank knows what he is doing, and the healer is aware and prepared. I'd much rather take a skill tanked under the defense minimum than some noob tank that focuses on only 1 stat, and has no clue how to tank.
Surprised it hasn't been mentioned already, but your math is a bit off. To be precise:
80 vs 82 (5.4% crit): 664.00 rating = 535 defense
80 vs 83 (5.6% crit): 688.59 rating = 540 defense
Sep 8th 2008 10:30PM According to Rossi's analysis while leveling his warrior to 80, Kara level gear will be good until lev75, and Tier5+ will be good until lev80, so if you have done a decent amount of raiding, don't expect to be replacing your gear anytime soon.
Sep 5th 2008 4:40AM Coming from someone who calls themselves "a student of game design", the author sadly doesn't have a clue.
I wish the articles on wowinsider had the same rating system as the comments. If enough people voted down the article, it would just disappear. That would be slick.
Aug 25th 2008 4:19PM Most definitely. The 10man BT drops would prepare you for 10man Sunwell.
Remember, gear is just a means to an end. It's only there to make you strong enough to attempt the next level of difficulty.
Jun 30th 2008 6:58AM Hmm, methinks someone has not yet been introduced to mouse-over healing.
Jun 20th 2008 3:59PM PitBull is really the only way to go. Yes, there are a million things you can configure, but that's the beauty of it. You can configure it to exactly how you want.
Just get over the "I want it to work in 2 minutes without any configuration" hurdle, and you should be fine. I'd say allow yourself a week after installing to tweak it as you try out different instances, roles, etc. After about a week it should be fine tuned and something you can never be without again.
Jun 13th 2008 4:17PM For me, it's all about time management. I don't commit to raids more than twice a week, and each of those sessions is only 3-4 hours each.
If you find yourself being committed to a raid for 7-8 hours in one sitting, they are simply doing it wrong. And yes, you can make very good progress keeping your time commitments in check like this. All of the early T4/T5 instances can be completed in 3-4 hours (with a solid group, no slackers).
