Reader UI of the Week: Silph {WoW}

Apr 24th 2007 2:29AM @11: Fiery Warhorse dropped by Attumen the Huntsman (1st boss in Karazhan)

Daily quests for casual players irk the hardcore {WoW}

Apr 20th 2007 2:42AM @those who moan they have to have the 300 riding skill: the questline yields you around 200g in the process of completing the quests for the Netherdrake. Why on earth you don't just borrow the money you're missing or wait for a day to grind the rest if you're that close anyway? Seriously, there will be enough people grinding it who have 300 skill already, the additional ones would really make it only worse.

WoW Moviewatch: Shadow Priest Public Service Announcement {WoW}

Apr 16th 2007 2:32AM @ajpally: I bet you're one of the "DPS loladins". At least according to what you say, when you bring a priest in your groups, you expect them to heal? Considering there is no need for 2 healers in 5man instances (with an exception of some of the Heroics maybe), what are YOU doing then in your groups, mate? Let's say you're there to solo heal that 5man instance cause you're designed to do it better than your fellow priests? How about that? If you want to hit mobs for 100 white damage while downloading dirty videos, it's impolite to waste time of 4 other group members for it.

AddOn Spotlight: Cartographer {WoW}

Mar 28th 2007 2:34AM Concerning resources, Cartographer is way more savvy than Gatherer/Auctioneer. While I decided to get rid of these at some point, I'm keeping Cartographer as I see no performance hit at all.

When it comes to being able to import notes from Gatherer - sure - there is a plugin for Cartographer that allows you to import data from Gatherer so you don't have to leave your old notes behind.

All in all, an excellent addon, highly recommended.

Reader UI of the Week: February 21 - 27 {WoW}

Mar 5th 2007 2:58AM Whoa.. Almost 75 MB of UI memory consumption is something to be dealt with. From the list provided, the most memory hungry could be things using databases, like Auctioneer. I'd consider replacing the remaining non-ace addons with their Ace2 counterparts.

Breakfast topic: How long til you hit 70? {WoW}

Jan 17th 2007 7:24AM I guess something between 3-4 weeks. Got two more level 60 alts I want to get to 70 as well though. I don't want to rush through it, gonna explore an enjoy the fun of finding things out myself rather than using guides or too many hints.

AddOn Spotlight: AutoSelect {WoW}

Jan 9th 2007 2:07AM I successfully use Denial2 (Ace2) to achieve the same effect plus optionally block duel, party, guild invites, and trades.

Breakfast Topic: What do you expect on the 16th? {WoW}

Jan 6th 2007 11:30AM I expect the servers down for 1-3 days and lag and issues for a week or so. As usually.

The Burning Crusade -- hardware upgrade time? {WoW}

Dec 22nd 2006 2:27AM @11 or others who are concerned if the expansion is more system-hungry: it's not, don't worry. As with the current game, there are areas more populated with mobs and/or with more graphical effects that might drag the performance down a bit but in general, it's the very same engine so there's no reason your game would run worse past Jan 16th.

AddOn Spotlight: EquipCompare {WoW}

Dec 22nd 2006 2:12AM EqCompare (Ace2) > Equipcompare. Equipcompare has a bug that sometimes keeps showing you a different item equipped - happened to me whenever I 'compared' more items in a row. EqCompare works without flaws - you can get it at www.wowace.com like all other Ace2 addons.
