Yet another massive social problem somehow blamed on WoW {WoW}

Aug 1st 2007 8:37AM The Australian is a credited and well known Australian newspaper. But it is unfortunately also heavily rightist bullshit. Like all news sources, you have to take what it says with a grain of salt and cross check with other sources before you run off and make a decision.

Obviously one guy heard 'online terrorist training' and basically blew his load to trash talk a well known and well respected game and community. People like that usually don't get a long run, I'm fairly sure he won't be writing again.

One Boss Leaves: Rajaxx vs. Mandokir wrap-up {WoW}

Jul 4th 2007 4:00AM It's neatural territory.

Ony's whelps are part of her cave, they can't really leave and I don't think she'll head off to the arena of choice and start popping out kids. But Rajaxx's troops can be taken with him pretty easily. It's not that hard to believe.

Besides. We got told the terms of the fight, accept it.

Know Your Lore: Rexxar {WoW}

Jun 14th 2007 10:47PM "Cairne's assistants explained to Rexxar that the chieftain's son had been captured by harpies, causing his depression."

It was the centaurs, not harpies, that ran off with Baine.

But a great article on a great character from Warcraft lore =]

Caption This! [Updated] {WoW}

Jun 12th 2007 5:16AM Finally the 40 ugliest horde side characters managed to track down the ugliest mother of them all.

Are loot drops really random? {WoW}

Jun 10th 2007 6:13AM @7 You need to brush up your probability maths. If you roll a dice 6000 times, it's unlikely you will end up with 1000 of each number sure, but you will end up with 6 values that fall *very* close to 1000.
Run the test out further to make it more accurate, say 6,000,000 or 60,000,000 rolls, and the results will stay the in the same proportions. It's simple to test, hell you can chuck together a C program and show that a rand function will come up with an even spread.

But on to the topic presented. I believe that WoW pretty much runs a rand function through the appropriate loot table, and pumps out what it falls on. It's not a fantastic system either, it doesn't even remove what has been dropped, so that doubles of items are not an uncommon occurrence. It's simple, straight forward and unlikely to fail (assuming the tables have been assigned correctly) As to cutting out certain drops from due to the old pally/shammy restrictions, that would be a simple check of weather or not the raid or group is flagged as Alliance or Horde.

*shrug* Not that hard, just break it down like you'd program it yourself.

Addon Spotlight: WoW Timer {WoW}

Jun 3rd 2007 7:23AM #5 should check out the parental controls section and see that it's not automatic, it has to be set by the parent. And it dumps the kid off the game, back into the lap of the parent who is apparently not responsible. Odds on it's a pissed off kid too, cos he just got kicked off his game. So short story, I'd say the people who use it are doing the right thing in terms of parenting, and I applaud Blizz for making it an option.

Breakfast Topic: How often have you respecc'd? {WoW}

Jun 2nd 2007 9:21AM I'm the same as you Amanda, I've only coughed up for the respec twice on my priest main. First time was from shadow to shadow to get Spirit Tap instead of Blackout for grinding, and the second time was from a leveling shadow build to a raid DPS shadow build. Yeah that's right, my guild didn't want me holy. I'm probably one of the few healers around who really wanted to be healing and couldn't =[

When it's not nice to share {WoW}

May 29th 2007 6:33PM There is another exception, working in reverse. If you have a child who is a minor or you act as the guardian for one, you can let them play your account no worries. I believe Blizzard doesn't expect them to pay for the monthly subscription or expect you to shell out of an extra one. It's the way my 12 year old brother gets to play. (I'm technically one of his guardians) Not that I haven't come back to my account before to find a warning from Bliz for offensive behaviour.

Needless to say he didn't get to play for a good long while.

The Creamy GUI Center: Click casting {WoW}

May 24th 2007 9:56PM Excellent stuff. Bongoes bombed out on me just recently, i can't work out if it's due to 2.1 or not, but this might just be exactly what i was looking for to replace it. The action bar and click cast mod sounds funky and I'll definitely give it a try =]
