12 Days of Smack Talkin' {WoW}

Dec 8th 2011 2:01PM Aww, really? I could count the polygons from here, son. You got nuthin' on this. You Jelly.

Pro Tip: Don't exploit loot rules in LFR's Dragon Soul {WoW}

Dec 3rd 2011 6:12PM I support Blizz stripping the gear away, but don't support banning players for anything other than outside, third party assistance. Banning these players to me just seems like Blizzard blaming others for their own mistakes.

Yes, I know Blizz can't foresee every possible exploit and bug. That's fine. Fix them as soon as they appear and try to learn from their mistakes. The lack of foresight is Blizzard's responsibility, not the players. How didn't someone on their QA team try something as obvious as Master Looting gear to someone with a lockout?

Drama Mamas: Love and marriage and WoW {WoW}

Nov 28th 2011 4:16PM Your husband's a douche. Dump him and find a real man. And by real man, I mean someone who understands that the concept of a marriage is that your wife/husband and family come before everyone and everything else.

Those who have priorities in their life that come before their spouses and families shouldn't have gotten married in the first place.

Breakfast Topic: How do you feel after spending time with archaeology? {WoW}

Nov 16th 2011 2:03PM As mentioned above, Archaeology was always meant to be the new secondary that complemented the dropped Path of the Titans feature. What we have in game was a last minute Hail Mary by the devs. All of the rewards from Archaeology could have been added as fishing drops around the newly redone zones, all the way up to level 85 bodies of water. Would have made fishing more appealing. Instead, we were left with something even more boring than fishing ever was.

I'm guessing that a revamp of the whole profession is on the table with Mists, considering how well it COULD tie into the new pet battle system if done correctly.

The Queue: Image is relevant {WoW}

Nov 15th 2011 4:15PM The only way to reliably avoid account hacking without an authenticator would be the following:

1) Pony up for premium virus and firewall protection.
2) Avoid any warcraft related site other than Battle.net, and any general sites of ill repute.
3) Download absolutely no mods whatsoever. Ever. Don't even visit the websites you need to get them.
4) If I have to tell you never to give out your password to anyone, please just mail me your gold now before the hackers get it.

Anyone who is reading this has already violated rule #2. Go get an authenticator.

Drama Mamas: When "just friends" intrudes on love {WoW}

Nov 14th 2011 2:30PM Dude, you need to have an exit strategy.

Because I already know what your woman's strategy is.

GameStop offering Black Friday deal on WoW Battle Chest and expansions {WoW}

Nov 14th 2011 2:01PM Blizzard needs to consolidate any and all previous expansions into a single, generic product. Offer only two items to purchase, the legacy app, and the current expansion.

I tried to convince a buddy at one point to try the game out, and he was turned off by the up front expense of having to pay for each version of the game.

I would imagine this is becoming more and more of a hindrance to attracting new players.

Blue posts and other WoW news: Patch 4.3 not being released next week, twice-weekly raid lockouts update {WoW}

Nov 11th 2011 1:43AM @ Twill

"There are hardcore raiding guilds that down content.
There are casual guilds that don't down content for a long time."

You forgot about my favorite type of guild. The casual guild that clears content quick enough for me to never care about people who take their video gaming way too seriously.

Lumping the entire population into two polar opposite categories is a bit presumptuous.

WoW subscriber numbers down to 10.3 million players {WoW}

Nov 9th 2011 12:43PM I cancelled my sub for three reasons. None of them have anything to do with Pandas.

1) I don't like the new talent trees. The soon-to-be-old style is just something I don't want going away.

2) The lack of an 11th character slot. I currently have all ten slots on my main server occupied by one of each class, alliance side. All of them are over 70, six of them being 85. My only options to play the Monk would be to delete one of my characters, or play on a server without my gold, heirlooms, or friends. I refuse to delete any of my characters, I've had them all for years. I also don't believe in paying for microtransactions in addition to a monthly fee, so transferring a mule with gold and heirlooms is something I won't do on principle.

3)The Old Republic. After playing WoW since release, I just need something different. It helps tremendously that most of my friends are moving over with me.

If I ever do come back to the game, it won't be until they increase the server cap above 10 characters. I'm not holding my breath.

Arcane Brilliance: Adventures with and observations on the Raid Finder {WoW}

Nov 5th 2011 10:51PM I always envisioned a passive rating system that works as follows...anytime you are the group leader...and only the group leader....should you be vote kicked from a group or disconnect from a run, your 'leader' rating goes down by one. Anytime you're in a run (again, as lead) where the final boss of an instance dies, your 'leader' rating goes up.

Should your rating go negative, you're not allowed to check off group lead on anything you queue for a period of time until your rating slowly resets back to zero. The player with the highest rating will get group lead each time.

This would pretty much ensure that the players with the highest success rates wind up in control of the groups. It's also passive since it rates players based on empirical numbers ...their "win/loss" ratio if you will ...and not some voting mechanic that can possibly be manipulated by players with an agenda.
