Nov 27th 2009 1:58PM Didn't think I would respond to this thread, but here I am.
I quit WoW after three years of playing for a few reasons. The guild that I had been a part of levelling up through BC fell apart in the middle of that expansion. Friends moved servers, left to other guilds. I lost the will to go looking for new friends, and slowly lost contact with the few old friends that I had on the server. I got real depressed and only continued playing for the satisfaction I got in moving forward. But whenever I hit endgame I realized there was nothing else I could do. Grinding was boring, instances got repetitive, and I couldn't commit enough time to raid. Eventually, I realized that and took advantage of circumstances to justify my quitting. Have been much happier ever since. I think the lesson that I learned is that MMOs are a social experience, and the minute you lose that everything goes down quickly. So best of luck to everyone! I don't hold anything against WoW or any of the players, in fact they made the game worth playing. If you read this and care about WoW let me give you some advice:
Find a player who needs help and give it to them. Nothing makes a player feel better than the reassuance and acceptance of their community.
May you live happily.
May 1st 2009 7:49PM I believe that Blizzard made the wrong decision by perma-banning Karatechop. If Blizzard was attempting to "Set an Example" for people if you get this item, I feel they failed. For many, now if they were to accidentally recieve this item, they would fear that they would be banned no matter what they did, and so try to do whatever they wanted, instead of acting in a reserved manner like Karatechop and his guild did. Sure, they went in a beat some bosses on hard mode. But to everyone who complains of cheating, at least he didn't mess up your game like many others who might someday find this accidentally given to them might.
Apr 30th 2009 10:58PM I would agree that he deserved to be banned, if he had chosen to clear Ulduar and steal all the world first because then he would have "obtain[ed] a competitive advantage over other players," or "to gain access that is otherwise not available." Without accomplishing either of these, I find no fault with Karatechop's action in violation with that specific incident. While loot might have been gained, I would hope none of them expected to keep it, and viewed it more as a joke. Blizzard was going to repond to what was happening, and I think they should have taken into account the fact he didn't try to ruin other people's hard work by World Firsting Boss encounters.
Apr 26th 2009 11:06PM For all the "For the Horde"rs out there, shouting out a cry for war will only continue the cycle of hatred present in Azeroth.
Apr 26th 2009 11:03PM I find it hard to believe the fact that people are justifying Thrall's inaction against the RAS by his ignorance of them, while criticizing Varian for his view of the Horde because he is ignorant of what truly happens inside of the Horde.
Also the Horde has done nothing to prove they want peace except Thrall saying, "Hey let's work together!" While then allowing his men to backstab the Alliance (Who are fighting the common enemy) such as at the Broken Front. Notice I didn't bring up the Wrathgate, because I understand it wasn't only Alliance who died. Either the Horde need to get their shit together, or... Whoops, forgot this was World of Warcraft.
The path to peace will require both sides to own up for their mistakes, which the Alliance has been endeavouring to do. Even though I find it repulsive so many Human lands are in the hands of the Forsaken, instead of calling for blood I will admit that the Alliance has been unfair in their treatment of the Forsaken, bu until Sylvanus puts a stop to whatever evil she is cooking up, we cannot put aside our safety for peace.
If anything, Varian is a wakeup call to everyone of the evils committed by both sides.
Apr 26th 2009 5:27PM Yeah, except the Alliance has been willing to own up to the racism of some of its leaders, unlike the Horde.
Hell, you know what:
Blood Elves, we're sorry, Garithos was a total douche.
Forsaken, any of you who don't want to destroy all living things you can come on down here, find your loved ones.
Tauren, ... We didn't really screw with you, did we?
Orcs, We apologize for putting you in camps instead of killing you all, or was it something else you were compaining about?
Trolls, we did our best dudes, but those murlocs were able to get past us after the "New" Horde wiped out the humans fighting them causing you to lose your island. Plus if you need any help beating Zalazane, we can be bothered to get off our asses and help you.
Mar 22nd 2009 3:44PM It would be a Four Handed Sword with ridiculous stats, but nobody could use it. Warroirs only. It would be called... The Four Handed Sword (uncreative, I know). The flavor text would read, "If Thehutch's requested change to Titan's Grip goes through, expect to be hated."
Jan 31st 2009 10:50AM Umm... maybe you all have forgotten the other meaning of retard?
re·tard 1 (rĭ-tärd') Pronunciation Key
v. re·tard·ed, re·tard·ing, re·tards
To cause to move or proceed slowly; delay or impede.
1. To be delayed.
1. A slowing down or hindering of progress; a delay.
2. (Music) A slackening of tempo.
Just because you want to blame a person for being insensitive, doesn't mean you should just lash out at them without considering their true meaning.
