Azeroth Interrupted: A plea for tolerance {WoW}

Jul 30th 2007 2:11PM All these "god is dead" and "believers are stupid" comments seriously make me laugh.

The hypocritical nature of one who says,

"What? You believe in God? But there is NO PROOF!"

is hilarious in light of how he/she backs his/her own beliefs in the Big Bang, electromagnetic fields, macro-evolution, etc, etc. (since none of those can be _proven_, they can just be guessed as true based on _evidence_ (much like belief in God).

I guess I just don't get how people can try and destroy another person for having 'religious faith' when 'faith' is general is so central to everything we do in everyday life.

Breakfast Topic: What if WoW were more interactively social and lifelike? {WoW}

Jul 23rd 2007 2:10PM The way to make WoW TCG work in WoW is to release sets of cards with a short, unique code on each specific card that would be entered into WoW which would then enter that card into your virtual deck. That way Blizz still makes money on selling cards, and the people who play get to play online with tons of other people who play.

Then again I don't play WoW TCG and wouldn't even if that was maybe my point is moot.

Religion in Azeroth: Why God is Alliance {WoW}

Jun 27th 2007 1:45PM 35. The Destroyer

The thing is...there was no assertion that God exists. The post was meant for humor, not as some awkward attempt to convert people. If the poster said, "Now, since we all know God exists (and I'm serious about this), let's discuss how He (the Judeo-Christian God of the Old Testament) fits into WoW!", then I would be perfectly ok with you getting defensive.

I believe this is a perfectly fine post for this blog. There is plenty of theorizing (albeit mostly about in-game stuff), but there are also blogs such as "balancing real life with WoW." If theoretical religious discussion about God/god/gods, with more than a hint of humor, can't be considered appropriate, well...that's kinda sad.

Also, occultism is hardly an old, archaic religion. I know plenty of people who would be quite unhappy with that generalization. How about Wicca, Goddess worship, Satanism, Voodoo, Hoodoo, etc...all still flourishing today. Yet, like I said, nobody would be unhappy if we discussed their role/s in this game. It's just a wee bit hypocritical.

Of course it doesn't have to be "God" singular and upper-case. But if we tried to stay inoffensive to everybody, we could never discuss things in a more sophisticated manner than, "Well, so there might be some powerful (omnipotent or less) being (male, female, animal, spirit, or anything else), up there (or down below or in some other realm), that did some stuff a long time ago (or very recently), and possibly, maybe still does some stuff today.

Wow...that would be an enlightening conversation.

And yeah, I get the sarcasm. I'm not even the least bit angered or disturbed by all the hypocritical and intelligence-lacking comments. I'm thoroughly amused, as I originally said.

Religion in Azeroth: Why God is Alliance {WoW}

Jun 27th 2007 1:49AM I am infinitely amused with how many people took a simple post and replied with things like "Don't force ur beliefs on me!" and "Keep ur religion out of my game!" Some very angry people here...heh.

Funny how if the post had asked about occultic tie-ins or how lore could compare to greek mythology, nobody would have raised a voice in discontent.

Fun with the Armory: Everyone's a little bit racist {WoW}

Jun 4th 2007 5:22PM er..."Kool Kids Klub." Though I guess "Kook Kids Klub" would fit this scenario just as well.

Fun with the Armory: Everyone's a little bit racist {WoW}

Jun 4th 2007 5:19PM Just because a name has initials that match another name does not imply that they are related. Sure, it could, but there is nothing to imply that the Kook Kids Klub is related in any way to the KKK.

Or maybe everything with 3 K's in the title, like:

Oh no! It's the Kool Kids Klub with its 27,395 KKK-wanna-be members from ages 10-14!

That's like saying a PvP team with the name "Nerf MoreHorde Because of Losing Alliance" is associated with NMBLA and promotes pederasty.

Apr 4th 2007 3:08PM When I went to Outlands my mining was too low for fel iron so I just went back and spent x number of hours grinding till I could at least mine something in Outlands.

My blacksmithing, on the other hand, is so lacking that the stuff I am mining now is out of my blacksmithing range. So if I want to level blacksmithing (without going back to zones 8 levels below me) I have to buy it all off the AH which is way too expensive. But I don't want to waste the time grinding up blacksmithing since I'm trying to hit 70. Oh the conundrum.
