Varian Wrynn is Right, Part III {WoW}

Apr 26th 2009 11:56PM Agreed, once they're done with baseball in Gurubashi.

Varian Wrynn is Right, Part III {WoW}

Apr 26th 2009 11:55PM If the Horde had arrived first at the Broken Front, what do you think the Alliance would have done? Just let them have what was, according to both sides, a major strategic advantage? The kind of advantage that, and I quote, "All their plans hinged upon"?

Lol. No.

Varian Wrynn is Right, Part III {WoW}

Apr 26th 2009 11:52PM I found this article interesting until we hit part 2, and then it kind of took a nose dive. Leaving lumber out to rot as a sign of dominance? You must be joking. How many level 6 mountaineers have been abducted by the Forsaken by now? A good million or two, one for every Forsaken to roll a character and do the starting quests? And do not kid yourself. If the Horde had arrived first at the gate at Icecrown, the Alliance would have attacked the Horde from the rear, because apparently that position was too good for any side to pass up.

No, Varian has little restraint. And he is blind to what is laid before him, when it pertains to the Horde. I have yet to see proof that he's been slapped in the face by as many of these symbols as the author has said he has. I don't believe he recognizes half of them, and several of the Alliance terrorists the Horde seems to revere, are revered for good reason: Without them, the "New Horde" would have never been. They are heroes. Even Valeera sees it in Earthfury, who is brimming with pride that he had touched Lo’Gosh and his companions in any capacity, and I’m sure Varian’s boy is quite grateful Rehgar is resto specced.

Simply put, King Wrynn hates orcs. He hates the Horde. He has good reason, mind, given a childhood of slavery and terror, but he has a lot of growing up to do. The kind of growing up Thrall, whom has shared a similar past with equal injustices and horrors laid upon him by the Alliance, has done. The kind of growing up Kings need to do.

Personally, I feel he cannot or will not do that growing up and in the comic series, his boy, Prince Anduin Llane Wrynn of 8 years of age for the last 4 years (he should be a teen by now, lusting after Valeera and all that leg for goodness sakes), is where my hopes lie for the future of the Alliance. Perhaps he can work out a treaty to have the Horde in Ashenvale issue some new and more relevant quests.

Two Bosses Enter: Svala Sorrowgrave vs. The Prophet Tharon'ja {WoW}

Apr 9th 2009 10:59PM Both of these bosses reek of desperation. Tharon'ja, to retain what power he has, and Sorrowgrave, to prove worthy of the power newly bestowed upon her.

His Curse of Life is quite powerful indeed, but he's kind of fatally flawed. Tharon'ja's hold over his power is slipping.. its part of the encounter and why people return to flesh constantly.

Even if the damage of the curse remains unadjusted, causing Sorrowgrave's mouth to spill over with bile and blood tears to stream down her face, the damage of her altar would seal Tharon'ja's fate the moment he lost control and returned her to flesh.

Plus, she's kind of fighting for major kudos from the Lich King here. Killing the Prophet is what he wants done and instead of rewarding Drakuru (whom obviously wasn't getting the job done if she's here to do it), he may very well confer additional power to her, and perhaps turn her into a DPS check for Naxxramas someday. She'd be a cool 10/25 man boss.

Patch 3.1 PTR build 9658 Warrior changes {WoW}

Mar 6th 2009 9:00PM This does jack for Arms PvE, unless the consensus is that Arms is not meant for PvE application. They don't want Arms warriors to use Berserker stance then, is that it? No Whirlwind for you; here's a DPS buff instead?

It was mentioned before that these aren't the only changes. I sincerely hope so.

Forum Post of the Day: Rogue killed by an AFK Warlock {WoW}

Apr 10th 2008 6:44PM Funny how no one mentioned that if the warlock has a felguard, he has Soul Link and guess what, damaging the warlock will break blind on the Felguard. Imagine that.

Also imagine a fight between someone in full season 3 versus someone in full Outland greens. 400+ resilience will floor the greens-wearing rogue's chance to crit. That cloth will seem like plate.

Lastly, imagine the scaling the felguard has when their master warlock is in full season 3. My warlock only has partial season 3 and his felguard can muster 200 dps once it gets going. Someone with 7k hp, no resilience, and not defending themselves against the melee strikes is dead in about 30 seconds.

Evasion would have helped, sure. But the only thing Hotlunch failed at was a judgement call. She shouldn't fight anyone in season 3 gear EVER until she has a few epics of her own.

Blood Pact: Tough lock... the SL/SL build {WoW}

Apr 6th 2008 7:21AM Zach, chum. I get melee trained down as a priority in most BGs I've been in. So far, I've gone 24 straight matches in my 2v2 team where my partner is virtually ignored until I'm dead or they are. I'm betting my buddy a steak dinner that I can stretch that another 26 matches.

Given all of that, a voidwalker is not a bad choice to start with. Fortunately, Fel Domination is reset every arena match.

Breaking news: In Eye of the Storm, towers > flag {WoW}

Apr 6th 2008 7:08AM Under NO circumstances, save a 4-cap, can you ignore the middle. NONE.

Chain-capping the flag with only one tower will keep your team in the game well enough until you can secure more towers. Controlling the flag while the towers are evenly split decides the game. And if you're up in towers, capping that flag will end the BG quicker which means you'll accumulate honour and marks by ending it all the earlier.

3 towers =/ win.

3 towers and controlling what happens to that flag = win.

Hell, if you can't cap the flag, you must DENY the opposition from having their way with it, just to prevent everything I wrote above. It's equally as important.

And yes, the flag can be chain-capped every 37.5 seconds fairly easily. It happened enough times to me in EoTS so I'm pretty sure. Two druids taking turns capping with somebody running interference while your entire team ignores your pleas for help because they're chanting "3=win nub. get out of mid. l2p" when we can barely hold two towers rank up there as one of the more frustrating experiences in a BG in WoW.

Breakfast Topic: Should there be honor in PvP? {WoW}

Mar 25th 2008 8:51AM Complaint or not, a lot of wars in history have had honour in them. Allowances for surrender, don't kill civilians/non-combatants, triage for the wounded, even if it's an enemy, etc.

Mind you, a lot of battles in history are the rape-burn-pillage kind too..

Which does WoW subscribe to, I wonder..? :P

Patch 2.4 notes - live version {WoW}

Mar 25th 2008 8:45AM I'm not seeing the PvP repeatable quest for converting one of every mark into 300-ish honour. Has anyone who's been on the test server in the last few days able to confirm the status of this quest? Or has it been rolled back? T_T
