May 15th 2007 12:32PM The Cut-Throat Alley and the spot related the Missing Diplomat quest are two different places. The Missing Diplomat part takes place in the Old Quarter (near SI:7), while Cut-Throat Alley is in the Dwarven District (reached by entering a house bordering the canal and walking through it to the other side). To my knowledge, Cut-Throat Alley is empty, and always has been (sadly).
There's a ton of little shops and other places in Stormwind that seem to have no purpose, like the dungeon under the Cathedral that was mentioned. It'd be nice to give those places a little more backstory or make them interesting/relevant somehow.
Apr 24th 2007 11:06AM I'd love to have a puce (the best color ever, thanks to Zork) drake. Mauve would be nice too.
Apr 19th 2007 8:29AM For ganking, STV definitely comes in first, with Ashenvale coming in second. In terms of straight up PVP, Hillsbrad Foothills also ranks on the list too (at least it used to).
Apr 18th 2007 1:20PM /echo the Hydrocane comments - it's by far one of the most useful drops for a non druid/shammy/lock/undead.
Apr 11th 2007 10:48AM Mike, did you mean to put in a link to warcrackwear, or were you just doing a little shopping whilst typing your article? ;)
FYI, the real link is:
Apr 10th 2007 8:32AM I have to agree with tagging BM as pretty terrible. Yeah, the coordination of getting through the various waves is a bit exciting, but the instance just seems dull and repetitive - there's really nothing to it, other than trying to hold on to the end. I tend to like a little variety.
Mar 30th 2007 10:26AM Why sue Blizzard? It's not their fault that the girl's parents weren't doing their jobs of *parenting*. Unless the girl had a job (which she must not have, given that the article said her only contacts outside of the home were online), her parents basically set her up for something like this: they bought the computer, bought a copy of WOW, paid recurring monthly charges for access, and allowed her enough time to get to know this guy (including planning the details of getting from New Hampshire to Florida).
Yes, the predator obviously needs to be punished, but IMHO, it was the parents who failed spectacularly here.
Mar 15th 2007 9:59AM @7 - Autoloot is in the Interface menu, over on the right side near the top. (hit ESC, then select Interface)
I agree with others that the scanning time of auctioneer is a big downside, but having used both Auctioneer and WOWEcon, I prefer Auctioneer, since it gives you a much wider array of data than WOWEcon does - your data collection isn't dependent on other people.
Regarding banning Auctioneer, Blizz didn't ban it, but they did ban (more or less) BottomFeeder, which allowed you to park at the AH and auto-snipe underpriced auctions without any human intervention (it'd scan the AH for new postings, compare the asking price for those postings against historical going prices, and auto-purchase them if the current asking price was below historical averages). Auctioneer still includes a form of BottomFeeder, but it requires active involvement to work - it'll still do the scanning, price comparison, and identification of AH bargains, but requires you to push a button to tell it to buy something.
It's those kinds of features plus the breadth of data available that make me choose Auctioneer over WOWEcon.
Mar 13th 2007 10:51AM Captial city access would be a big benefit, certainly. The only other reason I can see for wanting to have a lowbie in the Outlands is to have a banker/merchant alt character located in Shat to cater to higher-level characters, so that they don't have to burn a hearthstone to get back to outlands.
