Mar 19th 2012 6:23AM I'm a bit late, but I want to step up and say Cave's games are well worth it. I have all they have released for the IOS devices. Do be aware that while this game will run on the iphone 4, it is NOT as nice as on the 4s and other a5+ chips.
I don't have a device that would do the HD ports justice, but when/if I get an ipad or when my phone renews next year I would have no hesitation getting the prettier versions. I also am not sure they are entirely looking for people to re-buy them who already have, but offering a nicer experience for the newest devices. That said, they are very, very good games and worth grabbing on whatever you have in the format that works for them!
Dec 18th 2011 10:21PM I will contrast with those above: I've played around with it and it is quite fun, and we are getting some for our spawn. No, it isn't for hardcore gamers, but more and more I think they are holding back the fun in the industry because they can never be pleased with anything anymore.
Dec 8th 2011 4:55AM @HighFive5 You just figured out Skyrim!
Nov 15th 2011 4:10AM Technically, they all tried to kill him. He just murders them in self defence. And they keep trying. All they have to do to stop being killed is, y'know, stop going there...
Nov 9th 2011 8:49PM I think given how deeply they are (again) overhauling the class, it is going to be early to give much firm answers yet. Much as I wish we could have all the info now, they probably have to, y'know, decide on things and test them. :)
Nov 3rd 2011 9:14PM I went with Hebrew myself. It is fun to listen to people try to figure out how to pronounce Tzivya. :)
Oct 27th 2011 9:07PM I could see either Carrie Anne Moss or Michelle Rodriguez pulling off my huntress, depending on which aspects of her personality were being focused on.
Oct 26th 2011 9:10PM The Alliance is so ineffectual, the Horde has to fight themselves to get a real challenge. That's what I felt Cataclysm was saying. They could have massive internal strife, leadership changes, assassinations... And still simply walk over the Alliance like they weren't even there. :P
Oct 26th 2011 9:08PM While I don't know if there is development bias exactly, I do think there is some bias. I am an alliance player, and I do my best to avoid admitting it most places because of the scorn and derision.
Even at Blizzcon, there is usually a tacit understanding that most people like the Horde. During the live raid, there were a few comments deriding the Alliance fans and the one time Alliance people showed real support for Vodka, the people running it immediately spent a few minutes making sure the Horde was back in charge and more energized. It is disheartening to know that most of the fans around you, and the people you are there to support, don't actually LIKE you.
Metzen wearing an alliance shirt got all sorts of negative comments, because everyone knows he should love the Horde and it was Wrong to be wearing something alliance. Which is dumb, because he was clearly doing it sarcastically. :P
Others have talked about the in game experience, the novels, the depth, etc, etc, so I will focus on the fanbase and say it is really hard to be a from-the-start alliance player knowing that I am part of a derided portion of the fanbase, written off as clueless, a newb, a bad player, whatever because I haven't 'grown up' to be Horde yet.
The expectation in the community seems to be that new players play Alliance because they are pretty, and when they decide they want a 'real' interaction and experience, they will move to the Horde.
Oct 22nd 2011 3:50AM @houser It seems a really good meshing of the collectible pet system they already have, and making them more than a bauble that you pop out now and then. It is shamelessly a Pokemon inspired mechanic, but that doesn't make it bad. I am looking forward to it.
The talent changes they announced are the real meat of it all though. It is an amaingly sane and solid change and I am /really really/ looking forward to it. Rip out all the cruft, make most of the 'you have to take this' stuff baseline, and make what you choose from be relevant and interesting. And from what I saw, there are precious few tiers that were OMG THIS ONE ONLY. It really feels like I'll be able to choose between things that matter to me and suit my playstyle.
